I thought that one infection per week was kind of rough treatment...lol... sure wouldn't want 3.

Sorry, "only requiring one infection per week" should have been written "only requiring one INJECTION per week" :o)

If you have a choice and can afford it, use Pegasys.

Both Roferon and Pegasys are manufactured by Roche Pharmaceuticals, but Pegasys is interferon combined with polyethylene glycol. This causes the medicine to last longer in the body, only requiring one infection per week, vs. 3 x week for Roferon. In the U.S., pegylated interferon is the standard of care; it works much better.

Good luck to both you and your husband,

I don't know what Rofferone is. I've only been on here since February. My treatment is Pegasys and Ribaviron which is taken together, never separately. That might be what your doctor was talking about. I know if you can't afford the Pegasys and don't have insurance they have patient assistance.

Did your husband have a biopsy to get that diagnosis? Viral load goes up and down.

You have time to do lots of research, things take forever to get going even if you know what you want to do. There's lots of info here in the archives and Health Pages, and lots of people who know much more than I do.

Good Luck
