Subs won't affect the meds - no.
Tell her stay on the subs they are the only thing that has worked for me and I've been on them for 7 years. Gotta get off them now but......one day at a time.

Tell her good luck.

Your friend should really detox from the narcotics and the desire to shoot drugs before she attempts treatment.  Seems like rehab is in order  Relapse back into addiction is a big possibility if she is not committed to stopping the narcotics and has abstained for at least 3-6 months.

ok so she can take a sub friday morning to take care of her withdrawl and then do the soc shot and pill a few hours later and be fine? she'd like another week but they need her started tomorrow cause shes on the trial. so neither the shot or the pill will have a bad reaction with the suboxone? cause as long as she takes the suboxone then she wont have any withdrawl symptoms...

If she's used suboxone before and knows what to expect (and she waits until it's the right time and doesn't take it too early or it will put her into fullblown withdrawl if she doesn't wait long enough), the sub won't have any complications on the meds for treatment.

Personally though I'd probably advise waiting a week if she's really shaky because treatment isn't fun on it's own........and one week won't make a difference here or there as far as the hep is concerned.  But being strong and feeling ok is important.

Make sure you tell her to take two advil or tylenol with that first shot. She won't feel anything at all from the first pills but the shot can affect you (or not I didn't have any real reaction the first shot). And she has to drink a lot of water......that will help too.

Good luck you are a good friend to care!

ok well i have a friend that is supposed to start tx tomorrow morning but she's just getting off a 2-3 week run of shooting dope. she is taking suboxone today and doesn't know what will happen if she starts tx while still going through withdrawl. she can take suboxone and feel fine, but she doesnt know how her body will react to the first shot and pill while she's on her second day of detox and taking suboxone. any kind of advice i could give her? will she be ok to go through with starting the tx tomorrow?

I took suboxone for all 72 weeks of treatment.  Finally got to SVR and have been cured for three years now. I didn't take the tele - just did regular old SOC.

Now I'm on subutex trying to wean off all the Subs after about 7 years.........not so easy to do as it appears and I'm really in no rush to go through all the pain of that!  I'm  sure you can relate!

But yes it is possible to succeed taking the meds together. There was a study a few years ago that said it made it harder but I finally got there and my pal Zach did too (although unfortunately he had two times but he did make it yay!)
