Liver Problem?

For one month now, I've experienced odd symptoms, and I am afraid it may be the beginning stages of liver disease. If anyone can advise, please do.

I went from perfectly fine to a train wreck literally overnight. My most persistent symptom is an unwell feeling overall. All day, morning until night, I feel "not right." The best way to describe it is as if someone has put a small weight in the center of my brain. It's not painful, but it affects my concentration. My memory and coordination are fine, but when it comes to deep concentration, I get distracted and cannot focus.

I have had intermittent nasuea, a low grade fever, and abnormal stools (normal color, but very small and thin). I have not experienced jaundice or water retention. CBC and Hepatitis tests are normal, but I still am not ready to eliminate the liver as a potential cause. I am going to the doctor next week, and I was looking for advice on what to ask him to test for - ALT? Bilrubin?

If these seem like liver problems, please let me know.

I was in the ER about 4 days after symptoms started because I was so scared. They did an EKG and said everything was fine.

I am not a doctor okay,....I am just a store manager.

I only asked that question cuz that was the first thing that struck me when readin your post.
I am glad your EKG was fine,....but you obviously  feel like something isnt right. I would go in for a complete check-up if I was you. That would certainly put your mind at ease, and answer some "unanswered" questions you have. You could guess all day long "what might be" wrong, ya know?
Just trying to be a friend here, best of luck to ya.

Your symptoms could be many different things--why do you think it might be your liver?  I think you are on the right track--going to see your doc--you might want to make a list of your symptoms and when they began--and if there is any pattern (like do you feel better in the morning? in the evening? the same all the time, etc.).  It's easy to forget things when you are in the exam room--but your symptoms are very important and you want to make certain you share everything.  If your doc does a complete blood panel the liver enzymes will be included--as will other lab values.
I was just dx'ed with hcv a few months ago--I really didn't have any symptoms other than fatigue--I went in for a physical and my liver enzymes came back elevated which led to the hep screen which was positive for hcv--genotpye 1a and then a bx to determine extent of liver damage.
Best of luck to you--let us know what you find out.

Im with everyone else.  Some of those symptoms can fit to many things.  Go to your doctor and have a complete physical with a complete blood work up.  Get your heart tested too.  Sorry not to be much more help than that but your doctor should be able to find it.  Don't wait and don't worry.

I just noticed that there is another Forum that is called undiagnosed Symptoms.  Maybe someone there would have an idea.  I still think the doctor is the best person to get a solid answer.

Thanks all. I've been to 2 drs so far, and both are baffled. 2 more appointments next week. I started down the liver route because I couldn't think of anything else that hadn't been thoroughly examined. Most persistent symptom is the "out of it" feeling. I don't think it's correct to call it fatigue in my case, but it's something. Anyhow, here's hoping the drs can come up with something soon. . .

Hi youself!  I am doing well, just have been leaving the house at 7 in the a.m. and not getting home till 7 p.m.  No time for yard work until this weekend, so feel free to do a "drive by" in the Monte on Saturday!  I am doing well, just working hard!  Probably won't let up much until August sometime.  Bleah! But I am not independently wealthy and too young and cute to retire.

Ha - job security!  Otherwise known as no one else will work that hard for that little bit of $$$.   Raid the change jar and stop off at the bank for a small mortgage so you can gas up!  I get disgusted every time I fill up and think about the bonus that the Exxon Mobile CEO earned.
