Problem urinating

Hello All;

It's been a while since I posted. I'm in my 8th month of TX and should be done by end of Jul. The last few weeks I've noticed that I have difficulty urinating. I have no pain, just problems releasing a steady flow. As all heppers know, we spend a lot of time in the rest room releasing all the water we drink.

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this problem and what the cause may be. I have more difficult with this problem right after shot days.

Thanks

perhaps you should start your own thread, as this one is from 2006. do you have HCV? perhaps you should see a doctor.

Now that JmJm and beamish mention it the prostrate could be the problem. About ten years ago I couldn't urinate for a couple of days and saw a uraligist and he said I had some type of congestion in my prostrate and a cronic infection. He put me on some type of antibiotics and it went away. Guess what he told 10 years ago to drink plenty of water ha! Dale

I had a similar problem with sprinkler system last week. Had to remove the head, jam a screw driver into the pipe and then suck out the junk in the line with a Shop Vac. Cleared it up right away, but I had to get a new 90 degree head - crossthreaded it with a pair of pliers.

hey woman! did I mention I was in Santa Barbara a few weekends ago? Can that place get any prettier?? Think Goof mentioned that you might look into seeing a doc up North where he is (for another opinion), well, I beg to differ!! ha ha! LA is only two hours away from you, and if you want, I could recommend a few here...think UCLA would be good, or USC, Cedars, and a number of others...heard UCLA has the best success rate for transplants then any other hospital in the world, and I guess we could extrapolate from that they have a darn good Liver Clinic...but of course, go up North if you'd like..I might go with you and we'll pie Goof!

Went to re-read that article and I'm afraid youre better at sussing out scientific jargon then I am, so feel free to translate to laymens terms, I always like to read your posts...

Hi Barb. The thread was closed and I had to say HI to you. I wish you were feeling great by now but you sound like you're coping well and enjoying life. I remember you well and I have wondered about you and so many of the folks who were treating in 2002 and 2003. Many drop in occasionally but a lot of people just disappeard and maybe that's a sign that they've put this issue behind them and that's probably a good sign. I don't post nearly as much as I did back when you and I were treating but I still monitor the forum daily and contribute what I can. Everyone is so much better informed nowadays and that is a very positive sign. I wish you the best Barb and I hope you'll drop in from time to time. Be well. Mike

A lot of people just let these things pass

I think that's the essential point. He's trying to, but he can't.

Many of us have difficulty sleeping so Tylenol PM is used. It has Diphenhydramine(benadryl)in it. If you take this, it can cause problems, especially if you have BPH. Look at the warnings. Don't worry about it, just do something. Your family Dr can prescribe Flomax or, see a Uroligist.

Are you drinking enough water? You may be dehydrated.

Good Luck,

Wes

If you're over 40, good chance you have Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) , i.e. enlarged and/or inflamed prostate. Other causes could be bacterial, non-bacterial infections or possibly even the bladder. Unfortunately, it's time to see a good urologist and assume the bent over position. LOL. He'll take a urine sample, do a culture if he's thorough and maybe some other stuff but no need to stress you out. LOL.

Another important thing, certain drugs can make urination more difficult. Antihistimines and decongestants are two that come to mind, but you can check the side effects of all your meds and see if it mentions anything about the prostate. If it turns out you have BPH, they might try antibiotics and/or a drug called Flomax which relaxes the muscles surrounding the prostate. Down the road solutions including another drug called Proscar and if things get really serious, surgery.

A lot of people just let these things pass but you can develop down the road complications, including kidney trouble if you just sit by.

All the best luck.

Glad to see your poating today there guy, I.ve read that 1 of the sx's of acetomophen is difficulty draining the ole dragon! I believe it has to be at higher doses though. I can relate on the good and bad days, this stuff can be rough onthe body and mind some days. Hang in there , won't be long you'll be thru.

I wouldn't be concerned about sitting to pee. But if you find yourself starting to stand to poop I'd worry............ I agree with mike there but would like to add whether its no.1 or no.2 you do make sure your pants our down. Or you have a lot to worry about.

My fear is releasing before I'm actually in position. If I drink a gallon I release two gallons. I think the dieretic in my blood pressure medicine makes it a little worse.

Because I have fallen in the bathroom during the relax mode my wife has taught me to sit and pee during my nightly runs. It worries me because I'm starting to get comfortable with it. I was out in the woods the other day and realized I had squatted to pee and I'm getting a real mental thing about it now. On a serious note I hope that problem improves. As much as we hate to pee that's the thing that carries the poisons out so watch it and talk to doctor soon. Good luck to you. Dale
