Hi there; welcome to the discussion group.
Have you considered participation in clinical trial? Do you need to treat soon, or can you wait?
If you reside in the U.S. you can call the manufacturers of the HCV drugs to see if you’ll qualify for patient assistance; they often provide the drugs free of charge for those that are uninsured. However, they don’t cover doctor’s care, labs, procedure costs, etc.
Pegassist (Genentech Pegasys system): 888-941-3331
Commitment to Care (Merck PEG-Intron system): 866-363-6379, opt 1
Best of luck to you,
Bill
You might try a teaching hospital, like University Of .... I'm in the same boat, no job or other income, no insurance, etc., and they've taken care of me. Tests, etc., are free and they applied to Genentech, and Amgen's Patient Assistance Program who supply the med's free. Hopefully this can work for you.
It depends on what type of treatment plan you are going on, you can contact Pegassist, they are the makers of PEGASYS(Peginterferon alfa-2a) and Copegus(they make Ribavirin) which are noramally givin together. Most of the time you can contact the people that make the meds and they have some type of program for people that dont have insurace. Hope this helps!
