Wondering about VL

Well hey everyone, got the PCR results yesterday and they are 11 million, 9000, don't know exactly what that means but it's evidently  too high for kidney transplant and they still haven't genotyped it. One of the transplant coordinators did say that's probably why my accesses will keep clotting off, So what do you do, I can't do dialysis, they had to transpose veins last time, can't keep doing that they will slowly take all the life out of me. They'd have to put place these things over and over, first domiant arm now, then thighs, then God only knows where. Where can I go from here, I want to fight back but it seems there's no recourse. I just wonder how the drs will handle this situation, will they just let nature take it's course or will they try to help, seems now like the latter. If anyone has any insight into a situation like this, I'd sure like to hear it right now seems pretty bleak. Thanks linthomas

I assume you currently have a fistula or graft in place. Although a fistula or graft is usually recommended for ESRD patients, what is the possibility you can dialyze by catheter, that may help with clotting? Then you could dialyze, undergo tx for HCV and ultimately receive your kidney transplant!  :)

Had a fistula in place, lasted 2 yrs without being used, then clotted off. The caths, which had one of them till fistula matured, scare me to death, with this clotting thing happening, you get a clot in those it can be very dangerous. The good thing is going to nepr. tomorrow and I actually feel better than I have in mths. Maybe I'm gonna beat the odds again, she's told me I'm her miracle patient, the creatinine may have went back down, it has did that over and over, thanks for support and wish me luck, Thanks Linda
