Hi Lucy,

These results are positive for HCV (Hep C) antibodies. This means it’s possible that sometime in the past you were exposed to the virus. Roughly 15% of patients that have been exposed will clear the active virus with the aid of their own immune response. For this reason, you’ll require further testing to see if the active, RNA virus remains, or if you cleared it when originally exposed.

Ask your doctor if an ’HCV RNA by PCR’ test is indicated. Good luck,

--Bill

Hi Lucy, this means that you have tested positive for hep c antibodies and that you need more testing to confirm an active hep c infection, 20% of all people who come in contact with hep c clear the virus through their own immune system, you need to have an HCV PCR RNA test ran to confirm an active infection.
