Im new here and been seeing a lot about types and numbers and was feeling a little ignorant cuz I didnt know mine. I figured I would find out on sept 13 when I went to the docs and actually start treatment. But.....I didnt wait, got curios and called. Found out my geno is 1a and my viral load is 34million 9hundredthousand! Now Im not trying to scare myself but....that seems like a very high number to me. But since I dont know the low, highs or even norms could someone please school me?

PMs can be more potent than PIs depending on the targeted organism.

Yed I did. I have decided to go head with soc now, I can always do the other later if theres a need. Which I sure hope there wont be. Thanks for taken the time with me,  Dee

it sounds like you already got good advice from Deb (nygirl). You are on the fence where hepatologists will probably tell you it's up to you, treat now on soc or wait for the pi's. 1-1.5 years will probably not make a huge difference in your condition, but you can never be sure how quickly an individual will progress.

Treat if you want or wait to see if the PIs come out next year but as a stage 2/3 keep VERY on top of it no matter what you decide to do.

This is a high viral load. Viral load does not correlate with liver damage though. It would only be important in measuring your response to treatment. Many people with very high viral loads have cleared the virus from treatment. It would be good to treat with one of the PIs next year when they are available if you do not have too much liver damage. i forgot if you had a biopsy. Do you know the stage and grade of your disease.
