quest diagnostics - PCR test

since, i'm going to be getting my bloodwork done at quest diagnostics often, which PCR test is sufficient?

do I need to request the heptimax test?

I have no idea, but the possibilty is there.  The point is, if your VL is 35 for example, the RT-PCR won't detect it, but the TMA would.  I'd suggest to do the Heptimax for the 4 week test and don't worry about being 4 IU/mL or under since the full course of trt should knock out the rest.

The Heptimax test is a 2 part rollover test, which combines the HCV RNA Quant RT-PCR and the Quant TMA test. If the RT-PCR is < 43 IU/mL, then the more sensitive TMA (5 IU/mL) is completed.   Since my 4 week RT-PCR was UND, I requested the more sensitive TMA for my 12 week test and skipped the RT-PCR.
