riba and weight base

Have been sick as a dog. I dropped 5 lbs to 100lb now and the riba is making me so sick. I'm in week 23. I can't reach my doctor my I don't think I can take the 400mg this afternoon. The anxiety and can't sleep since Sat when I got the flu. I'm on 800mg now I think I'm going to only take a 100mg this afternoon. I can't breathe and still sick as a dog... any input. would be appreciated

I wake up just the oposite. I feel calm in the morning and the when I take the riba everything goes haywire. Calms down and then it's time for the riba and the same thing. I took the full dose with some Valium I have two days to get me through my GP called back and will give me a prescription my hep c jerk never called back.. No back up doctor for him.......he's to good for that......My only advice to people out there is we are doing serious drugs and there is very little help. No on understands. Make sure you get the best doctor you can get..I have 12 days.I'll makei it....I had a liver transplant hospital call me back and Im npt even their patient. they won't tell me what to do but they said statistics say don't dose reduct it can hurt you SVR. I have to do this. as long as I can. It;s definitely the riba for me. Interferon I'm fine with......We're all different.........

Not sure this makes a difference to the fact you need help but my understanding is the anxiety and mental state you describe is actually from the interferon, not the riba.
Riba is a mild stimulant so it can make it hard to sleep and intensify your feelings.

Nygirl kept saying it wasn't riba rage but from inteferon.
I didn't believe her until I noticed how I wake up ready for a fight every Friday after my Thursday shot.

I am the same weight as you, and my doctor said if I had problems with the riba to drop my dosage from 800 to 600.
If you have the flu, it could be complicating things.

I'd be ready to kill the doctor if I were you.

Good luck

If your that sick for the last 4 days, do what you have to do to get yourself through this. I've missed a couple doses and so have a lot of others, plus all the dose reductions and halted doses for anemia. You need to be well enough to continue so do what's necessary now to help you get there.Like you I had ended up in hospital for 4 days and all they did while i was there is  try to convince me to stop taking my Meds.Nobody had a clue, just that if its causing this much of a problem you should stop it. Hope this passes for you in the next day or so.

No nausea just other stomach problem cough and fever horrible headache for 4 days. I think that was the flu the riba started bothering me I think because I dropped so much weight. It never makes me nausea, it's the anxiety and the mental state I go into. I just not taking my second does today. One day can't hurt. It's killing me. I woke up feeling a little sick and the Riba drives me over the edge. I can't do this anymore and yes where is my jerk Doctor. I have been having a problem all week and all he keeps saying is keep taking you meds. The one day he wanted to see me I couldn't get out of bed. Then two days later ended up in emergency and he was in the hospital and never came to see me.

I am really sorry that you are feeling so sick.

I am surprised the ER did not give you anything for the vomiting and nausea. Maybe they do not understand the importance of taking the Riba as prescribed. Maybe Zofran would help. 8 mg of Zofran every 8 hours did the trick for me. My nausea and vomiting were due to the medications and the Zofran worked wonders. I don't know how it would work on the flu, but I wonder if the nausea and vomiting are from the flu or from the meds. Getting Zofram or some other med would be worth a try, I think.

I do not understand why these doctors are unreachable and why they have no substitute on call if they are off call. This practice (of not being able to reachthe treating MD when problems arise) seems to me to be a gap in ensuring that we are able to take out meds as presribed and treat the side effects as they arise. If they are not going to be reachable, then they need to have some protocols in place so we can get treatment when we need it. That's my soap box for the day.

I went to the emergency room two days ago and they did nothing for me. just a cat scan and made me sit there from 6 am to 8 pm. Cat scan of the head was normal said I didn't have any more approvals after sitting there all day. No one understands these drugs. I was getting horrid head pain. I think I caught the flu and it's messed everything up but will never go to an emergency room. what am I going to say I don't want to take my riba. They'll put me in the phyc ward
