I had two types of HCV as well.........they both are long gone now after doing treatment. So don't worry about that too much - it's essentially the same as having one regardless of which two he might have.
Since they can tell which two types he has it means they did a PCR test to count the virus and therefore it's unlikely to be any sort of false positive. If he had only just gotten it there would be a chance that his body could beat it on it's own but since they have been testing due to old issues.......once you have it longer than six months you have it until you do treatment and get rid of it.
Treatment is not fun but it certainly is doable for most of us.
If his doctor was just looking for elevated enzymes, like mine was for years, his blood work may well have been normal. Mine was... yet I have had hep c for 25 years. His doctor needs to have confirmatory tests done.
Hi,
False positive results are a possibility with some HCV tests; and yes,we are now able to clinically resolve Hep C. The treatment consists of weekly injections of interferon along with twice daily oral tablets of the drug ribavirin.
