I wonder if your doctor realizes that treatment should be stopped if you develop sarcoidosis.   Sarcoidosis involves inflammation that produces tiny lumps of cells.  These tiny lumps  can grow and clump together, making many large and small groups of lumps which can affect how the organ works.  It can also cause scar tissue and permanent organ damage.

In the lungs, sarcoidosis can cause trouble breathing, scar formation and in some cases, respiratory failure.  And sarcoidosis is permanent.

If the amount of sarcoidosis you have is small, you have to consider that the interferon you're taking for the Hep C can make it worse.

This comes from a side effect management booklet written by hepatologists....I suggest talking to your doctor about it right away.....

Chapter XII, Pulmonary and Renal, page 147

"WARNING:
Dyspnea, pulmonary infiltrates, pneumonia, bronchiolitis obliterans, interstitial
pneumonitis, and SARCOIDOSIS, SOME RESULTING IN RESPIRATORY FAILURE  and/or PATIENT DEATHS, may be induced or aggravated by peginterferon or interferon alfa therapy. Recurrence of respiratory failure has been observed with interferon rechallenge. The etiology has yet to be established."

Do you mean umbilical hernia? (near the belly button).
It's a question for the doctor really.
He will have to decide if you are fit enough for surgery.
If your platelets are very low or there is a risk of bleeding and/or infection he may decide that you should wait.
