Wondering about VL

Hi everyone, I'm just wondering how the dr. could say my VL was this and that, don't really remember exact number but was over 2 million, they discovered this on workup for kidney transplant, but they never tested for PRA or genotype, even dr. that did biopsy couldn't tell me that info. So how did Dr. know what VL was, has anyone had this happen? Now we are waiting the 2 wks for PRA's and genotype to come back, Just wondering without specific tests how they could have known this. Any input is greatly appreciated as I'm on pins and needles to see if I can have this transplant with or without treatment. Thanks

Prior to my LTP (liver transplant) I was tested from head to toe, including bone marrow. You should ask for copies of your lab requests and also get the the lab results. This way you will know ahead of time what they are testing and see the results first hand. You will be drug and alcohol screened without your knowledge just as, I assume, you were for the HCV VL. This may happen several times during your preop screening for KTP. They are making sure nothing else is brewing in your body that either you or the dr's don't know about or that you haven't been fully open about.

Good luck to you.

My vl and genotype were done after they found out I had hep c. I'm not sure if it would have been routine to run vl if you had not previously been diagnosed with hep c. The pcr test will give you the viral load, and of course your genotype is very important.  Good Luck

Good morning:
This is stretching it pretty far, but could your doctor have arrived at your VL using other methodology? We tend to use the term
