Yes we are, friends who can disagree and I wouldn't even be so dayum pissy if this disease didn't kill my friend last week.

You know oddly it didn't affect me that much THEN but I heard an old song he used to play on the radio the other day and had to drive to the side.

It's such a STUPID disease and it CAN be treated and that is what is upsetting. He DID to treatment and DID have a transplant but continued to drink and get high and konked out.

If your bf had CANCER would he just say "well I know I have it but I feel fine...I'll let it go".

I never was freaked about having this that much until it killed someone I knew intimately well. Now...I hate this disease (and the alcoholism that really most likely did him in) more than I have words.

I wish to God that everyone who had it was being treated or monitoring it. But with 3million Americans with the disease and waht is the number 150,000 treating...........those numbers just aren't so good at all.  Sadly they don't even KNOW they have it most of them.

I love you CanDo - thank you for dealing with my problem with such class. I'm just straight up pissed at this crapassbastardmotherfucker disease.

HA I'm pretty sure that ten word long utterance will get **'d!

First it was no comment you made that upset anyone, He should be happy to have some like you who cares. And don't feel like your ignorance. Your just like the most of us when we found out about hep-c. Just glad you found this site. As for upsetting any body, na, Me and nygirl are good friends here and like all friends we don't always agree. Nygirl is one of the most caring people here. And for the most part i don't bark. Maybe you can convince him to at least find out where he stands. But you can only do so much.

Sorry it was your post this happened in, but please don't let that keep you away. Shoot if i could i'd give nygirl a big hug.

I won't say I never heard them, just not that many together or in that order.  Had the tummy bug this weekend - it could be the interferon.  I can't keep anything down but gingerale and I'M HUNGRY!

I'm real hesitant to say this, but I will anyway.  If the BF has the same level of concern, affection and love that you apparently have for him then he needs to be awakened to the concept that his health is not only for his benefit.  I apologize if that preceding sentence was out of line or in any way offensive to you.

Thank you all again. Please forgive my ignorance , it would seem I made a comment that upset a few , I apologise. I cannot wait to print some things & give them to my BF as some of you suggested. yes I do take this disease very seriously and I just want to try all I can to spur my BF on to do something even if it is only to get a biopsy or more bloodwork. Well no it isnt hard to love a person that doesnt care , I just love him for who he is not what he has.    Thanx again.

Hi,my boyfriend is 47 and has had hep c for 27 years. He will not have any treatment other than maintaining type things. He could still have a transplant but he won`t.He`s been threatening to die since i met him,he`s still sitting here.It will be hard for you to love someone who doesn`t want to live.Don`t go down with him.Its hard to watch your love die when you know they haven`t tried everything.Good luck.

I agree anyone with this should take it serious. Just this is a support forum and us 4's are fighting this. Advice yes, blanket statements when it comes to me or other 4's here. I just don't see it.

Your one of my favorites here and you know it. Its just a touchy subject for me. I had a uncle die a long, slow, painful death from lung cancer yet people still smoke. And i'm one of them.

Don't be mad at me, i just don't think scareing people will work. Just might have the different effect. If they think their gonna die anyway. Your still my sweety

the fact is, it is a slow moving disease in MOST hep c positive, whether we like it or not, and that we can safely state, because we used qualifying words, like 'most likely'.  We can not say that he won't drop dead soon, but it should not be from hep c.
Does he need to take this illness more seriously? Definetely yes.

He has been infected for 3 yrs, people that progress to cirrhosis in that period of time are a rarity.

The quote was "I can show him that he isnt gonna drop dead tomorrow"

And my point is: how do we know he doesn't have liver cancer, etc. etc.? He could have advanced to that point and we would not have any clue.  Having my friend die has really changed my mind - I think mostly we take this disease TOO lightly. It is SERIOUS sh*t yet a lot of times we are like Oh it's slow progessing you probably have a lot of time....

I'm not saying stage 4 (certainly when I am a stage 3) is fatal - but YOU my friend ARE TREATING.  If you were not treating and just instead went on saying "ah it's a slowly progressing disease" without even having a biopsy or anything.........how many years could your health go on?  Is there a stage 5?

I just really believe it's wise to try and steer people to INVESTIGATE their situation instead of giving blanket statements like we usually do on how slowly progessing it is.........might be a wise thing to do.

And I apologize........I shouldn't have quoted but it just struck me as odd terminolgy at the time.  I certainly don't think of myself as going to drop dead and I have it too you know.

I was going by your quote. Since i'm a stage 4 then why put this **** in me then? i might as well go out and live while i can. To many damn doctors here anymore.

You know i think the world of you but this is the thrid time in a couple weeks i've heard this **** by different people. And i'm sick of it.
