small, small amounts might be hemriods but anything that is comimg out of any amount needs looked at!!!!!  My brother in law thought his was hemriods.  He died at the age of 49 of colorectal cancer after an agonizing 8 months.  If I scared any6body......GOOD, get it looked at!!!!  VERY IMPORTANT

This is looking like a drive-by. But I'll chime in anyway. Blood from the bunghole can be caused by anal varices - like the esophogul ones, just in the southern hemisphere.

Ownmary - if you suspect advanced liver disease you want to get this lookos at pronto.

I agree with copyman-its probably hemmorroids. My husband had them recently.Bright red means the blood is coming from the lower end of the gastro tract.Get to the doc as these could burst.A colonoscopy should be ordered and if they are indeed hemmorroids they will band them so they fall off(this cuts off the blood supply to them)But it could be signs of something more serious.Get to a dr...cindy

baah... biiig deal! I've been having blody stools literally for decades. I have mentioned it to more than one doctor and none of them have ever investigated it further.  I'm still alive.
I hate it when it happens, and I think that the weakening of my immune system probably is related, but the doctor knows everything right?

Please listen to Bill and get your butt (literally) to the doctor!

Bright red - not an immediate problem; dark red or "coffee grounds" call your doctor's office right away - especially if accompanied by a fever.

If it was bright red blood then it is most likely hemorrhoids. Not that serious but still want to get it checked out by a doctor.

Call your doctor on Monday and explain the situation. They’ll probably order appropriate tests to determine why blood is present in stool. It could be the result of an ulcer or something more serious, including colorectal cancer. You don’t mention your age, or whether you’ve had a colonoscopy recently? In any event, be sure to follow up with a doctor!

This is a Hep C discussion group; do you feel this is somehow related to viral hepatitis?

Good luck,
