Ginger tea, or even chewing on raw ginger root is good for the stomach as well as peppermint tea.
Medicinal cannabis is well known for relieving nausea and stimulating appetite.
Thank you. I'll try the milkshake. I'll try anything! (except for another pill if at all possible) I'm sipping water, Gatorade, Gingerale. I just can't believe this is showing it's ugly head this far along into treatment. I thought for sure it would hit big time once treatment began. Oh well. It is what it is and if it gets me to SVR...bring it!!!
I did strawberry milkshakes for the fat. it seemed to coat my stomach.. I also got some suppositories from the doc that helped. As far as water.. that was all I drank before treatment, but during treatment I could not even stand the thought of drinking water.. I did a lot of gingerale, lemonade and kool ade.. Sierra Mist was also good.. When I did start drinking water again, it had to be very cold and out of a plastic bottle.. strange, but it was the only way I could drink it.. Good luck to you and I hope you feel better.
Sounds good to start priming your stomach to hold something gentle before meds time. I like dried candied ginger root or the tea is very settling. Happy that you are not still losing your stomach. relax...this too shall pass...:)
No, I'm just nauseated now. I just afraid that I'm making my stomach worse by worrying about vomiting the meds up.
Pooh: I do have some sherbet. Maybe I'll try broth and crackers and them later try the sherbet.
I take Riba at 5:00pm and Victrelis at 10:00pm
At the ER, the nurse there told me not to eat protein while nausiated. The worst thing. I found out not to have a hard boiled egg...She also told me to stop all fat. For me, that was not an option. Just something gentle like broth, a little at a time. Are you still throwing up?
I understand. YEAH that you do not have to deal with the fat consumption on a bad tummy. Are you still throwing up or just nauseated now? You only have to take one dose at a time. First things first. I was able to keep my meds in about about an hour give or take. I hope it all worked out. When do you take the next meds?
Jello is another food that will go down easy and ice cream or sherbet also.
Can the md call something in? I needed zofran. on my bad days i started with saltines. sip water do not chug right now! You lose more throwing it up. when i was super sick after the crackers toast was usually the only thing i vould get down. remember, you have 30 minutes to eat it so you can take your time!
I used to eat saltine crackers and chicken soup. I also drank liquid chicken bouillon and I usually drank a quart a day of the chicken bouillon. These food items did help, at least for awhile. And I still got down the Greek Gods yogurt with every Incivek. Then, when I realized there was some treatment for this drug induced nausea and that I did not have to be so miserable, I got Zofran 8 mg every 8 hours for the nausea, and felt 1000% better.
We have to eat. I think many/most of us have found that if we get hungry or if we do not eat, we get nauseated too. It usually does not have to be a lot to quell the nausea. I used to eat herbed olives and beet pickles, LOL. It somehow decreased the nausea. Even now, if I start feeling nauseated, I eat something, nuts or fruit or ryecrisp or something.
You are at about week 10 so you have a ways to go. Today maybe try the soup and crackers or whatever you think. Tomorrow I would call the doc and get a prescription for the nausea. You do not want to take the chance of vomiting up your pills or of getting dehydrated. Plus, nausea is another side effect that will snowball if not treated. Whatever the drug caused mechanism for the nausea, it will make you feel a lot sicker and a lot worse in other ways besides the nausea. (I found that out the hard way.)
Hope you feel less nauseated soon and I hope you get a prescription tomorrow.
I'm on Victrelis so fortunately I don't have to deal with the fat grams. However, I do have to eat something with each dose. A little worried how I'm going to take my next two doses of meds.
I am on week 11 of triple as well. What time do you take your Incivek? Are you going to be able to manage the 20 gm of fat? Maybe a few bites of yogurt might help. STAY HYDRATED
I'm heading into my 11th week of triple treatment and have had very little vomiting. I did have a banana with my Ribavirin this morning. Maybe it was too heavy?
For me, although it took a long time before I could, just basic fluids like chicken broth, a fruit juice popcicle, Just sips helped. Any idea what caused it?
I recently had a 30 hour vomiting spree followed by as near many hours of the other end. Very tough to keep meds in. The ordeal also included my first ride in an ambulance to an emergency room in the middle of the night. No one told me to replenish my electrolytes.
I think so. But I haven't had much to eat or drink. I am sipping Gatorade. Any ideas what I can eat?
Has the vomiting stopped? Do you have some gatorade or pedilyte?
