EOT visit to my GI yesterday

I saw my GI yesterday. We went over the Viral load coming back (940 IU/mL) 6 days after last shot. He seems to think its not that bad. Of course it would of been nice to SVR but with my ALT/AST being normal for the first time in 30 years and the fact that I was UND for a period of time is good because it has lessened the inflamation for the time being. And that there could very well be some improvement.
I know he may be telling me this to make me feel better but he seemed very sincere. As far as treating again he is against it. He says wait a few years for a better tx to come along. He seems to think that the Polymerase inhibitors are the most promising. That Telaprevir is not going to be much better than SOC right now.
He also feels that its not worth risking permanent damage (Thyroid, permanent sx, etc) to treat again in the near future. I tend to asgree with him. He gave me a referrel for blood work to do again in 3 weeks. CBC's,LFT's and VL. That will be at about 5 weeks post treatment. Will see if the LFT's climb along with the VL at this point. Or if it takes longer.

One patient positive at follow-up week 12 (HCV RNA 9000 IU/mL) later achieved an SVR.

Great video by the way. I did 24 weeks,GT 3A. That is why I asked for another viral load. The OUTSIDE chance of it resolving on its own. The only tests the lab that my HMO uses is the QUAL TMA which goes down to 50 copies/mL or about 8 IU/mL. And the QUANT PCR which only goes down to 619 IU/mL.
The 11 week test was UND with the QUAL TMA <50 copies/mL. The EOT test was the QUANT PCR which was 4702 Copies/mL OR 940 IU/mL.

Bobby,
Good luck with everything. You gave your liver a decent rest and it was much needed.
My local hepatologist told me too that teleprivir wont be any different than our SOC and not to wait for it until at least 2013.??? I dont know and neither does anyone else it seems sometimes. Our doctors seem to be on the same page .

Anyway...good luck  to you.
