weave after hair loss

On Nov. 30 I was 40 week post treatment and still undetectable....(waiting for results but was und on Nov. 2, no reason to think I won't be at 40 weeks.  Anyway I lost most all my hair.  It had grown out to about 3 inches but was very, very thin.  I am an artist and have a show coming up that I have done for years and did not want to discuss with everyone about treatment which was obvious because my hair was always long and thick.  So, I got a weave, now it is long and thick again and looks pretty natural.  It was costly about $350.00 (Merry Christmas to me) but made me feel so much younger and better that I feel it was worth every penny.  You can reuse the hair for about a year or so and have to have it re-weaved about every three or four months depending on how fast your hair grows.  It took about 6 hours from start to finish and my head is a bit sore but feeling better quicker than I thought it would.  I tried a couple of wig previously but my head is small and I always felt they would fall off so I never wore them out.  For a woman it is really a bummer to loose all your hair and this weave has made me feel so much better about myself I just had to share.  Good luck to everyone.  I will let you know how the 6 mo blood tests come out.  Happy Holidays to all.  Thanks for letting me share.  I hope this does not seem to shallow considering what everyone is going through.
Happy Trails, Sherri

The weave sounds like a fun thing to do and very appropriate for your show.  I hope it is successful.  Congratulations on conquering the disease.

Thanks for sharing.  Sounds like a good idea.  I am on week 17 and the hair has been falling out more noticeably since week 14.  I have enough problems without going bald and am so dreading where this is going.  Doing my best to try to live a normal seeming life though all this.

Yay for you!  Such good news about still being und. I'm awaiting my 3 mos. results which is crucial - should know on Monday.  Seems that everyone in our study at my location has remained und.
Glad to hear that your scalp has gotten well enough for the weave.  My hair is not coming back very well.  I've been in a wig since July and it will be MONTHS before I won't need one at work.  Sure beats that scalp rash though, doesn't it!
Look forward to hearing continued good news from you.

I agree-not shallow. Congrats on your health and I wish you the best for your show! My hair is now thin too having just finished treatment but dont know that I could manage the weave. I'll google it to see what is involved. Thanks for sharing!

I've had dozens of weaves throughout my adult life.  For no reason other than vanity.  So I've got ya beat there.  ;)
