Damn, I like that story about short term tx, for low VL.. I only had 5460 last april..Is the sx's more extreme for the daily dosing of interferon, than peg?? I believe I read somewhere that it was really bad, Only 14 weeks though is incredibable!! Gonna love to show this to my Dr, and see what see thinks about it..Thanks..
The one on cocaine snorting is presented a bit sensationally. If you read carefully it says that only 14% of the cocaine users in the study with hep C had NOT used the drug intravenously. It says nothing about whether they had tattoos, piercings etc. Secondly, I don't like the way they say "there is no cure". I think some of us would beg to disagree!
Lou, in response to your question about St. V's, I received my blood transf. there that was tainted with hepc. But that was 31 yrs ago. It just gives me the creeps when I hear the name if you know what I mean.
For some reason, I never thought there would be anyone on this site from around here. How foolish of me.
Anne
I'm glad that you found some insight on what might be ailing you, it is always a relief to find some hope. I can not take credit on that tip, though. A forum member, Twotells(where are you and how are you?), made it a point to educate us about that condition. Those of us chronic forum readers, absorbed many anecdotal experiences from fellow members that we can later share when THEY are not around. The collective experiences found here can be invaluable. Good luck on your pursuit.
Of the 14% that didn't use IVs, I read that to mean snorting was as effective in transmitting HCV as needles?
I can understand how you might be feeling. I had a minor run in with skin cancer a couple of years ago. Dr removed the tissue from my left temple; tiny scar, hardly visible at all and no recurrences.
Very best of luck to you..
Had a question about alcohol in mouthwashes and cold medecines..I saw on a few sites, that they say it is important not to use mouthwashes that contain alcohol..Does that little of an amount, absorb into your gums, and cause damage?? If you are spitting it out, how does it effect you??I can understand the cold medicines, as you are ingesting them, but not the mouthwash..I personally don't go around drinking listerine...
Thanks, I go in to see her at 3:30..I know its not a big deal, but that is 4 displastic spots removed for me.. Hoping these are the last.. Sure am paying for all those sun burns as a kid!!! When I was living in Jamacia, my pale American skin, would turn so brown, they thought I was a Malato..
Attached is a link (I hope) to a series the Seattle Times is running on a man waiting for a liver transplant.

I question some of the stats, but Jack has a great sense of humor and is a fighter. I don't see how anyone reading this series could not sign up to be an organ donor.
Alcohol in mouth washes and colognes do get into your system very quickly. I am a recovering alcoholic, so know there are mouthwashes that don't have alcohol. If I were you, I would heed the warnings while on tx., but unless you have significant damage (ie; cirrhosis) that small amount will not do any damage. For us alchies, it's enough to start the craving syndrome though, so it definitely does get into your system. Joni
Thanks, i saw the warnings about the alcohol, and didn't understand the reasoning..I sure do like too drink a beer or five, but that was then..I'm not going to die to feel good for a few hours, I can take an effexor for that..Kidding.. Thanks for the info, didn't know that alcoholics can actually be triggered by the alcohol in mouthwashes and things like that..And I'm not chirrotic, and planning never to be..Good luck
