RIBA question

My normal time for taking ribavarin is at 6 in the moning and between 5 and 6 in the afternoon - depending on when I can get a meal together. So the question is this... On a day like today when I have an evening public function ( where I really need to be functioning and thinking) would it be okay if I took my ribavarin with my 2 pm Incivek dose. My thinking is, that I can then have a lie down until 4 before I get ready to go. I'm hoping that I wouldn't get such a funky head feeling if I do that. Then, I could go back to a regular schedule of meds tomorrow.

No.... I intend to take it with my Incivek and a full meal at 2.... I'll just have a snack right before my meeting at 5 so that I don't get overly hungry by the time it is over. Depends upn the agenda and how the Chair runs the meeting. Just hope it is not past 10 like last month. I figure I can miss the March meeting (last month on Incivek ) and be better able to handle the next few months....

I had trouble sleeping and was told I could take my later dose earlier. When I asked about taking it with a snack, I was told to eat a substantial meal or it could upset my stomach.
Now I take my morning dose around 8 and my second dose around 1. 5 hours apart is fine according to my liver team.

Thanks. I was hoping that might be the case. It will alleviate the necessity of my trying to squeeze another meal in before the meeting at 5. I can just have a snack to keep my tummy full.

The half life of ribavirin is very long and you will be fine taking it at that time, everyday if you choose to.

The terminal half-life of ribavirin following administration of a single oral dose of COPEGUS is about 120 to 170 hours. The total apparent clearance following administration of a single oral dose of COPEGUS is about 26 L/h. There is extensive accumulation of ribavirin after multiple dosing (twice daily) such that the Cmax at steady state was four-fold higher than that of a single dose.
