what step to take? Is it urgent?

I have hep C, around 6 - 7 years.My recent Liver Function Test result says Total protein 7.5 gm/dL( ref range 5-8) Albumin 4.6 gm/dL(3.5-5) Globulin 3.9 gm/dL(2-3), S. billirubib Total 0.9 mg/dL(0.3 - 1.2), billirubun direct 0.3 mg/dL (0.1-0.3) SGOT/AST 57 U/L (<41), SGPT/ALT 48 U/L  (<41), S. Alk phosphatase 240 U/L(<258). Is this result indicates liver is seriously damage now. (Figure in the bracket are ref. range)

Were you ever actually tested for HCV?  I didn’t notice a Gen. Type or Viral Load. I have a friend that recently went through the same thing (told he was HCV positive). When he was actually tested he was negative.

going by your blood results alone, it is very difficult to draw any conclusions. if you haven't already, your next step should be to seek out a liver specialist (hepatoloigist) can usually be found at your larger, teaching hospitals. If it hasn't been done already, they will probably want to run a number of tests and procedures including a liver biopsy. only then will you know what steps to take and how urgent those steps are.

Your numbers don't look too out of whack to me.  Stop drinking and using over the counter drugs (some are hard on the liver but the label doesn't say that).  It takes about 3-4 weeks for removal of those things to show up in your bloodwork).  It's good that you are watching your bloodwork.

If you will look up all of the tests on the VA hep C site or any of a number of other sites on-line, you will get some interpretations that will help the numbers have more significance for you.
