worried about a incident ? Help

I used to play with neighbours kid . Yesterday one of his activity which he did for fun made me panic. Yesterday evening he asked for a handshake , after which i had small pinprick bleeding on my finger . It is due to the safety pin ( One with plastic head used to stick bills in notice boards ) which he had hidden on his hand . As i was worried i enquired him and came to know he had did the same thing to his uncle few hours before ( must be atleast 3 hours ) , he said earlier tha day.

Does his fun put me on risk of HCV ? , I am very worried .

Thanks for spending your time reading this post and helping me

I agree about seeing another doctor for a lab order for testing. The doctor is wrong with what he said: "could not hold much blood to make the virus live for more then hours"

Actually Hepatitis C virus can live outside the body up to 4 days. Even present in dried blood.

I think that was a sick prank. You should talk to Dennis the Menace's parents.

"As i further asked him for testing. He referred me to another doctor to deal with my fears.
what should I do now ?"

You should go see what that another doctor has to say, perhaps they'll write a letter.

Nah, I'd be satisfied with the doctors advice.  You could have a background check run on the kid, the uncle and the push pin.  You may uncover something suspicious.  :o)

thanks for helping me.

Yesterday evening I went to my doctor, I asked him to write a letter( prescription ) to lab for testing. But he denied saying that only hollow bore needle causes more risk of transmission and he said solid bore needle after that much long time could not effectively transmit HCV. He also said that solid bore needle could not hold much blood to make the virus live for more then hours.

As i further asked him for testing. He referred me to another doctor to deal with my fears.

what should I do now ?

should I find some other doctor to recommend me testing ?

Sounds like a great kid.  I'd be a little suspicious if he ever says to you "Hey, does this smell funny to you?"

And even if he did stick someone with HCV, the risk for transmission  is about 2%. Anyone with a needlestick should be tested though it is such a small risk.

I wouldn't let hepc be my only concern.  Don't you think you need to get tested for all infectious blood born disease?

The simple answer is" Yes"  it could put you at risk. However their are a couple of variables involved. 1) did he use the same pin to stick you as the uncle and 2) and more importantly does the uncle have HCV . Also if he stuck his uncle and then you who else has he been going around sticking. If anyone with HCV was stuck with that pin and then you were you could be at risk for exposure. The only way to know absolutely is to get tested. How long you will wait  I"M not sure but oyhers here will know .

Good luck and the c hances are remote that people he is sticking have HVC,but a possibility.
