Pamela Anderson was "outed" by a UCLA staff member. I work in this town and I happen to know there are many, many celebrities and famous musicians who are hiding this disease from the public. There have been really strict enforcements made at some of these hospitals, Cedars Sanai, UCLA, etc...where the staff have to sign non-disclosure agreements, etc.

I'm of two minds on this. Yeah, it would be really, really great for us as a community, in terms of press, government and private funding, etc. if these "household names" were outed and people could really see what a insidious, pervasive disease this really is...how much financial need there is....on the other hand, their jobs are like our jobs, there is discrimination against the disabled and they don't know if they would be able to work in this industry if all these respective "cats" were left out of their respective "bags." I joined a few people and we've been trying to get a "household name" to be a celebrity spokesmen, ala' Elizabeth Taylor with AIDs, putting it on the map and into the public consciousness, etc. and it's almost impossible. A celebrity who would be inclined to help us out is afraid that people would automatically assume that he/she had it, and the ones that do have it are afraid for said reasons. This is their livelihood too. More shall be revealed...

As far as Pammy she could do a lot more, for sure, but she did get all those negative emails and hate calls like Andy pointed out ("negative emails from heppers???How could that be???? ha ha ha...we do tend to have a lot of angry members in our group, don't know if you've noticed...) she's gonna do whatever she's gonna do....I'm sure if she were to be farther along in the disease she would probably feel she had to, to save her own life...funny how people don't get perspective unless they are forced to...

Antman: if you are still here, if you ever were here, ha ha, milk thistle is controversial, I know many, many people who have benefitted from it and actually taken their inflammation down, but of course that is anecdotal. There are many hepatologists who prescibe it so it can't be all smoke...I personally don't take it - it's too strong for my system now, but I did take it for years and I'm still at low damage, but then I take a few things...why not take if if you want to (and remember, sometimes I think some people get all these negative outcomes because they start out with too much) and see how it goes and test your blood, etc. see if it works for you...that's just my take, there will be others, like the sun coming out in the morning...ha ha! good luck to you!

You have met her??  And now the calling of "pammy",,,is this your sister lol   I do have to agree that she comes across alot sharper in interviews then of course one of her shows which is supposed to be the ditsy blonde always needing help. And yes,,,she has come out in the open with her disease but really she could do alot more but of course who am I to say,,,,She may feel being in the public eye is enough of a challenge at times just being a celebrity.
If we pass your test,,,,can we go to the head of the class or this a special one for space? lol

Did I mention that Vertex is coming out with a male/female sexual enhancement drug which hopefully will come to market in 3-5 years. LOL.

Hopefully, you'll get reassurance here -- but please visit ALL the chat groups listed -- and even find more. Every group has different people, with a different perspective. The more people you talk to, the better. Like I said yesterday, you'll be just fine with the dating thing. We men as a whole are a very horney bunch and most of us wouldn't let a little hep c virus get in the way of our fun. And I'm serious about this.

Is it possible to say if you are cirrhotic(sp) and and you are at end of tx,,,ready to quit.  Can you tell anything by monthly labs after getting off tx,,,to how your immune system is doing on its own?  Would it platelets be down?  Or that wouldn't be what you are looking for?
