The gastroenterologist should perform a full evaluation of your hepatitis C and liver disease. Jaundice and spider veins are both signs of advanced liver disease (stage 4, cirrhosis). You should find out the extent of any liver disease and what options are available to treat your liver disease before it progresses further.

Jaundice (yellowing part of the eye, music membranes, skin) appears when the liver is no longer able to process bilirubin properly so it builds up in the blood. A bilirubin level of at least 2–3 mg/dL is needed to produce yellowing. Normal total bilirubin levels are 0.2 - 1.3 depending on the lab's range.

Spider veins are commonly found on the face and trunk of cirrhotics and are caused by high levels of the female hormone estrogen. A damaged liver can upset the balance between the male hormone testosterone and the female hormone estrogen. This can lead to to gynecomastia (breast enlargement) and other female characteristics in male patients with cirrhosis.

Good luck with your visit!

Glad to hear you don't drink.
Rivil is right, if nothings changed recently, you can wait.
The other thing to avoid is advil, tylenol or ibuprofen, all hard on the liver.
You might want to stay away from red meat and restrict your salt intake until you find out exactly what is the problem.
It can't hurt and it could help.

Best of luck~

You said in your reply to Hector that you do have Hep.C and that your Dr. said you have the spider vein on your face and yellowing... so it is clear to me that you are now waiting to be seen by the gastro regarding the symptoms of HCV and possibly cirrhosis.
Has something happened since you saw the Doctor? Or are you just trying to figure out how serious this is?
In my opinion if nothing has changed since seeing the doc, then just eat healthy, take care of yourself and when you see the gastro, you guys will come up with a plan. Don't worry to much, but be prudent.
Good luck to you.

Are you infected with hepatitis C?

If you could describe in more detail the symptoms you have and post the actual numbers from you blood tests we could be of more help.

What part of your eyes are yellow? Do you know your bilirubin blood results?
Where are the spider veins located? Who said they are spider veins?
Is your primary doctor referring you to see a gastroenterologist?

Thanks.
