Wecome Speedy - this is a great site. I'm about the same week as you. We are getting close. You should see my hair (if you want to call it that). The amount I have left is thin & frizzy. I should change my handle to "thin frizzy."♫
My husband has the thyroid problem plus psoriasis.
"Seasoned" .... nice euphemism!
Honestly, girl. You are one of the seasoned members. Class of 2008 or 2009?
frijole
Ok, not old timers, seasoned members if you prefer ;-)
I ain't old........who you talkin' bout Willis! ;)
Welcome to the forum. This is a great site and for me it was a great relief when I found it, about 2 months into tx. Without some of the old timers here (sorry guys) like child24angel, NYGirl and mikesimon I'm not sure I could have made it through tx. Those three and some others who have been posting here for years, have so much experience and knowledge that I learned things from them about Hep C and tx that my doctor did not know. Of course, more people have joined since then and many have a great deal to offer, and together we help one another through our dark days. I love this place for the information, camraderie and understanding I find here. I hope you will likewise find what you need to slay the dragon.
Wishing you the best,
jd
Welcome to the forum! Your in a great place for support as the other members said.
Many knowledgeable people here we have all been thru the ride of tx and are here to help when we can!
Best of luck to you.
If it werent for this forum I wouldnt be as knowledgeable as I am today!

Pretty sure I'm Qualified to say welcome to the forum Speedy. Some of the members here are quite knowledgable (and of course some just think that they are) so make sure that you take everything with a grain of salt and run it by your doctor. None of us on here are doctors but some have been around for many years and do know a great deal about hepc and will be glald to answer all of the questions that you have. As always, check into everything for yourself and make sure the advice is correct. You'll be in double good shape that way.
Welcome to the forum, it seems you are doing ok with this treatment. I treated for 48 weeks and achieved SVR!!! The sides are different for everyone and the recovery from treatment is also differnent for everyone. I came back to life really fast!!!
Not sure what Frankie566 is referring to If not for the people on this forum, or the people who used to be on this forum I would not have made it through treatment!!!!
Best of luck to you!!
peace

hi speedy . of course moodiness .{of course} yup I had the lost hair hair, getting worse on wk 18 . but only in the front .seems like it will come back ,over here medic mommy hit it on the head I think some of the most "down to earth" advice came from her {and everybody else ,seems to care for you also} I have heard "they find a happy spot" for your thyroid ,w weekly blood draws in most cases , could be wrong . hang tough ~ your in the home stretch ! congrats , and good health !! just assuming your going 48 .
Just want to say welcome to a group of supportive people who know what you're going through.
Write in with your complaints and we do understand and sometimes can even help!
Best of luck along the journey. OH
Hi Speedy! So glad you found this site, too. It makes all the difference in the world to have some place to vent. Especially with others who share the same eyebrow/eyelash thing. This place does help us find that bright side.
You are in the downhill stretch right now. Good for you that you have done so well this far. I also had light sx throughout, but found the end of the 30's to the early 40's was when the fatigue really hit.
Throw the thyroid thing in on top of that and...yikes...that's gotta be tough. As others have said above, thyroid problems are not uncommon on tx and I hope yours resolve soon afterwards and the meds help you make it through the remainder.
The good news is, tx doesn't last forever and you are getting close to the finish line. Yay!
Be kind to yourself and allow for down time.
I wish you well. Please keep us posted.

Aren't those long lashes the weirdest things? My eyebrows were totally out of control, while my head hair dwindled. What a trip.

Today is a good day , I am looking on the bright side . so I might be going bald ,but I have the most long and luscious lashes due to the drugs and the synthroid seems to be to kicking in . Thanks everybody for your comments and advice . :)
Yah, the hair thing is a pain in the butt. Just the cleanup of all the hair falling off is a difficult task while on treatment. But hey! Week 33! You're so close! I know sometimes it seems like it will take forever, but really it goes by so quickly in some ways too.
Unfortunately, some people do have permanent effects vis a vis the thyroid after tx. In my own case though, I was hypothyroid and then my system seemed to pick up again. But I think the permanent damage is not that uncommon and there are many people on the forum who have dealt/deal with it.
Friends and family do try, I believe, but they just have no good frame of reference for dealing with something like this. It is almost impossible to explain how treatment is to someone who hasn't gone through it.
You've found a good place for support and I wish you hadn't had to go through 33 weeks before finding this. I never would have made it through my tx without this site.
And don't worry about being grumpy. It's in the water, I think ;)
You found a good place to rant. Lots here appreciate what you are going through. UND at 6 weeks is a pretty good sign. Good luck with the side effects.
Oh, I almost forgot...
The hair loss thing...You will probably continue to lose hair for about 2 months after treatment. All of the damaged weak hair falls out, -but it does grow back! Some of mine grew back as gray hairs and curly (looked suspiciously like pubic hairs!) but it does come back! Use a good quality shampoo (some suggest Nioxin for damaged hair) (I got away with Joico products) and air dry if possible. Oh, do you have the horrid dry itchy skin? Try Aveeno after bath body oil. Use warm, not hot water when bathing and pat dry. Very nice...Dry mouth/leather tongue at night? I used a moisturizing mouth gel made by Oragel. It usually worked all night and it kept my tongue from drying out...Take care! ~MM
Hiya!
I am now at the 11 month mark since completing treatment and, I too, experienced thyroid ugh. At week # 10, the txing gave me thyroiditis (had a thyroid storm!) and I was hyperthyroid until about week #18. It then "flipped" to hypothyroid (what an awful feeling!) When I finished treatment, I was supposed to have gone off the synthroid but my Dr. didn't tell me, so I was on it for an additional 6 weeks, causing me to go artificially hyper again! So, 5 months later, my poor thyroid finally found it's "happy spot" and has been functioning normally since then! (Yay!) My levels are still being monitored every 6 months, but so far all is well! so, you may not need to take it the rest of your life...It all depends on how bad the txing cooked your thyroid! -Time will tell! I have been UND (undetectable) since week #4 of the treatment (so that means 1 year, 4 months and 4 days so far) and I feel great! My liver enzymes are holding at ALT 15, AST 16...Of all of the effects, the low neutrophil count took the longest to recover from...Good luck and keep us posted on your progress! (((((((((((((HUGZ)))))))~MM
Sounds like you are doing very well with treatment. There are a number of people on the forum that have experienced thyroid problems. I am sure one of them will comment.
