I was the first to say it doesn't sound like gout, I'd never seen the whole foot swell, and now I'd like to retract that statement. I knew a woman, who was overweight and was having difficulty walking because her foot had swelled up and was red. She wanted to borrow a cane from the therapy dept. and I said sure. (She was the bldg administrator so I actually said "YES MA'M!")
then I looked at her foot and said 'have you ever been treated for gout?' She started laughing, hit herself in the head and said "I can't believe I didn't think of that sooner" Seems she had meds for gout but only took them when there was a flare up. It had been awhile so she hadn't made the conection. Once she started back on the meds she was better immediately. Or maybe like you, it was never gout and would have gone away on it's own. Maybe she was on hep c tx and I didn't know it! Endless possibilities!

I've had multiple incidents of 2 separate things that I self-diagnosed as gout. Bothe times the doc (different docs, BTW) too one look and said, "This isn't gout". One was a busitis like inflamation in a to joint way inside the foot, the other was recent infection in pinky toe.
My mesessage here is we think "Swollen foot joint, must be gout". But it simplay ain'y t like that.
Take care.
Sounds cozy! really!
Hang in there with all that's going on. Hope you like snow. It's ok, but I grew up with it and prefer not shoveling and freeezing my @ss off each winter. Iwas transplanted to texas 28 years ago, when I was 5. ;) The word on the street though, is this is our warmest winter in history. Can't tell by your part of the country.
Hugs,

thanks for all support, I was just able to finally get to the computer. We had 14+ inches wet heavy snow and last nite around 8 ish pm the power went out! Finally came back on around 6am and I was worried about the fridge! I put a pulp thermom. in my med pack to be sure the temp remained okay. Then of course this am no cable..ugh;( finally on at 1 pm...my car is buried again lol, but it is pretty outside. The little one weighs about 1/2 of me but man is he strong and fast. He loves the snow! The older one who has cancer still enjoys it too! have to help her when it gets really deep since her hips aren't to good now. She still trys and we still play but she weighs in at 100+ lbs and she is a very big girl so its hard for me to pick her up if she would fumble! With no power last nite they kept me warm! Even the cat slept with us,imagine a 65lb husky,a 100+ lb husky and a very plump maine coon in bed with myself and my hubby lmao, I am suprised the bed held!
As for the gout, spur it is gone. Really weird but par for this course I believe. Hope all are well and as always best wishes:)shelly
You're getting there. Thats alot of weeks behind you! Those dogs love the snow I know that.
I saw your response to my post over in the dog forum, thanks. I don't think I responed to it yet tho. I was on my way out, but thanks for the info.
See ya over there again sometime!
Thanks for the clarification. I don't like to start rumors or say things that are incorrect. I have never had gout.
wow congrats on going so far. Glad to hear the sx's haven't stopped TX. Keep on hanging in.... Hope you had fun with the dogs today in the snow. ours here in PA was so wat and warm that we just have a dusting that melts about as soon as it hits the ground. (Calif transplant here and I love the snow) But shhhh everyone around me keeps praying for it to stop. lol Oh well there's always next fall. hehehe
good to hear things have improved. i also feel like a walking drug store and can't wait to get off all this stuff. keep on keeping on!
Aren't these sides amazing? Can never predict why they show up or how long they'll last. good news that it came and went away (for another day perhaps)
I had no idea you had a child that little. (or should I say big?) He probably weight 1/2 your body weight and has 10 times the energy!

I know what you mean about feeling better right before injecting. That's about when I start feeling a little better - the day before my shot. Then it's off to the races for another week. But good news that you've reached 56/72!
I've had it so bad my entire foot was swollen. Pain from my ankle to my toe. It can be quite severe. Generally too much protein in the diet or taking diuretics is the culprit ( which was what was causing mine ). But it can affect and show up in a wider area than just the big toe, though that is the most common.
I think gout is only in the big toe, not the heel.
Glad to hear you are feeling better. Hang in there !!
