Bill is right there are programs out there for "the working poor" as i call it. Try to go to www.PPARX.org. This is a site that has some questions that you answer and then you can get list of programs that you qualify for based on the information you entered. I was on Pegasys and Co-Pegasys.i recieved assistance through Roche, they covered the entire cost of the meds. There is help you might get NO's BUT DO NOT STOP CALLING you can hopefully find some assistance.
Good Luck

So Sorry...do listen to some of the people on this board and maybe you can qualify for cheaper meds. Walrus meds cost us almost $700 a month. (18 months worth!) We don't qualify for any kind of help. It's tough--wish you the best.

I don’t know which interferon you are prescribed, Pegasys or PEG-Intron. Quite often, our insurance companies will cover the cost of ribavirin for a nominal co-pay; however, the interferon is excluded from the Rx side of the plan, but covered under major medical, which is probably why you are seeing the high co-pay.
I’d encourage you to call one of the following numbers and ask about their Patient Assistant Plan (PAP). Here you go:
Pegassist (Roche Pegasys system): 1-877-734-2797
Commitment to Care (Schering- Plough PEG-Intron system): 1-800-521-7157
http://www.hcvadvocate.org/hepatitis/factsheets_pdf/PAP.pdf
These programs can help with the cost of co-pays, and sometimes the entire cost of treatment drugs, depending on patient income. These programs are designed to assist not only indigent patients, but the working poor as well.
Give them a call and discuss your situation with them- these are seriously good people that go out of their way to help. I’ve had almost two years of Tx covered 100% by Commitment to Care.
Best of luck to you, and let us know what they say--
Bill
