This will pass...just not the stone...very painful ...let your body rest and you'll be feeling good in a short time...hugs :) shelly
You have a kidney rock, not a stone. My kidney stones are lodged and won't move, according to my dr. Yours has moved and I am sooo sorry for you.
Glad the guys filled you in on flomax. Many men take it, as noted, for difficulty urinating. (Hence the name flomax is kind of cute)
It can cause your blood pressure to drop, probably helps the blood flow max also.....
Glad you are done with this nightmare, I can't imagine dealing with all you have been through.
You've been a help to so many here, thanks.
Hugs,
Bug
Remember the 36 weeks after UD rule,You did 40!I started on mar 30th,about the same as you UD at 6 weeks so I got 36 weeks of UD.You are going to get SVR.
'game'...wrong choice of words, that's 4sure
You got it covered girl. That you stayed in the game with all the other health issues is incredible. Like someone said above....wow, to be UND at two weeks! I hope this kidney issue clears up quickly.

All The WAY To SVR!!!!
Wishing you the best of all things and a speey recovery to excellent health. OH
Deb, hoping you feel better soon and I agree with the others that it looks like you will be SVR!
Wish you the best!
Congratulations on finishing w/ trx !!-ya kicked butt girl.....goodluck with the pee gravel
I'm feeling for you with that kidney stone. I had one smashed years ago and then it didn't all come out and they had to remove it. I would much rather give birth!! You have come such a long way, and I'm glad you are done. It sounds like you'll be SVR! Wishing you all the best!
Blessings.
I wish you a speedy recovery.
Be well and all the best!
The last two posts crossed but it does appear that flomax is a good call, assuming presdcribed by your urologist. Just be aware about some of the side effects such as getting dizzy when standing up suddenly. I took Flomax briefly and experienced it the first couple of days. It's due to a temporary reduction in blood pressure and therefore the blood pressure warning. I assume someone with very low blood pressure might have a problem.

So you shouldn't be overly concerned, this current Q&A with a urologist addresses the "should not be used by women or children" issue. Again, I'm assuming you're getting advice from a urologist regarding both the Flomax and the Oxycodone. If not, I'd discuss both with a urologist.
Question:
I have kidney stones and my doctor gave me Flomax. I`m only 22 but the pamplet said that women should not take it. Is this okay to take?
Answer:
Flomax is used to ease the pain and hopefully allow the stone to pass. It is not approved for such use, and the company which produces Flomax refuses to label the drug for use for ureteral stone.
The drug however, is safe to be used by females unless they have blood pressure problems and take medication for it, or if they are allergic to Alpha-blocking agents or Septra.

Study Shows Use of Tamsulosin or Nifedipine Helps Patients to Clear Ureteral Stone Fragments Faster and Reduces Rate of Recurrence
http://tiny.cc/nQwGq
SAN ANTONIO, May 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Findings from a new study show that
patients with ureteral stones who received either tamsulosin, sold in the U.S.
as Flomax(R) (tamsulosin hydrochloride), or nifedipine were able to clear
stone fragments faster than patients who did not receive either drug following
shock wave therapy. The study, "Efficacy of expulsive medical therapy using
nifedipine or tamsulosin after shock wave lithotripsy of ureteral stones,"
also showed that use of tamsulosin or nifedipine reduced the need for
re-treatment, as well as the recurrence rate of ureteral stones. The data
were presented today at the 100th annual meeting of the American Urological
Association (AUA). FLOMAX is not FDA approved for indication of post
lithotripsy management of ureteral stones.
"This study suggests that tamsulosin and nifedipine can help patients to
expel ureteral stone fragments faster and decrease the need for further
treatment of one of the most common and painful urologic conditions," said
Salvatore Micali, M.D., Department of Urology, University of Modena (Italy),
principal author of the study.
Flomax is in a group of drugs called alpha-adrenergic (AL-fa ad-ren-ER-jik) blockers. Flomax relaxes your veins and arteries so that blood can more easily pass through them. It also relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate.
Flomax is used to improve urination in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate).
What is the most important information I should know about Flomax?
Flomax can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert. You may feel dizzy when getting up from a sitting or lying position. Avoid standing up too quickly to keep from falling. Avoid drinking alcohol. It may increase dizziness caused by Flomax.
Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you are allergic to sulfa drugs. You may also be allergic to Flomax.
Flomax can affect the pupils of your eyes during cataract surgery. If you have cataract surgery during your treatment with Flomax, tell the surgeon ahead of time that you are using this medication. Do not stop using Flomax before surgery unless your surgeon tells you to.
Stop using Flomax and call your doctor at once if you feel like you might pass out, or if you have an erection of your penis that is painful or lasts longer than 4 hours.
This medicine should not be used by women or children......

You did great and with UND at week 2, think you have it in the bag. As they pulled you off tx.....you didn't stop, start enjoying the feeling better. Of course after the kidney stone. Seen big, mean grown men cry over those! Feel better and rooting for your SVR.
Start healing dear.
LL
I can understand your pain. I am prone to kidney stones also. I am not a candidate for lithotripsy so if they don't pass I have to have them removed surgically. To have this on tx OMG!!!! I could not have handled it. I hope all goes well. Once they remove it pain is GONE!!! It is best to have this taken care of asap. I developed a kidney infection after my last fun time with a stone and every now and then I get a UTI. I wish you the best!!!!! Merlino
OH yeah Jim is sure right about that one - heavy narcotics can make it just about IMPOSSIBLE to get pee to come out, seriously.
If that is what the flomax is for - and you take too much of the oxy...it is going to screw up your need and ability to pee.
So glad to hear TX is finished for you but sorry for the other problems.
I've had a butt-kickin UTI for the past week and was on the wrong antibiotics and now i'm just praying that it doesn't go to the kidneys.
I wish you all the best, Deb. Keep us posted about your progress.

You did well to gat to 42 given all the problems. I would bet heavily that you will hold SVR. Now be good to yourself and start healing. Peace.
As to the oxycodone -- if it wasn't alread, you will want to run it by your urologist as oxycodone potentially can do the opposite of Flomax, i.e. make urination more difficult. That's not to mean you shouldn't take it, just run it by whatever specialist who is treating you for the stones because you want to treat this thing correctly.
-- Jim
Sorry Deb, but I'm glad you're finally off the drugs. "Flomax" is a muscle relaxant to help with urination.
-- Jim
Deb you done well...with this pain God knows how you even kept on treatment this long. I'd say you are SVR already and just done so don't even sweat it. UND since week 2 - you ain't gonna get better than that anywhere.
I had kidney "gravel" (little tiny stones) when I was in my 20s and I remember it hurt more than anything! so I can't imagine (shuddering) what that pain is like for you right now. Thank GOD for the oxy's!
The hep is done and over so just worry about getting rid of this stupid thing. guess what? You are going to be feeling great by the summer...ain't that going to be FANTASTIC!
ALL of my luck to you! Deb
Don't worry right now about the hepatitis. Just try to heal.
Be well,
Friole
Congratulations on finishing. Good luck with the rest of it. Pleasant thought, taking your last riba.
