I worked in the medical field in the 70's. I was exposed to n had the hep an b Inj early 80's. Diagnosed last august. Stage 4/grade 4. Those numbers correspond to the condition of ur liver fibrosis. On the other hep c site someone posted what it means. Grade n stage is low. Mostly inflammation. Stage relates to fibrosis I think. Like if liver is hardened and portal vein is clogged with fibrous bands.hope this helps. Karen :)
The best I can guess is I got it in 1977 in the form of some type of immune system injection which was supposed to protect me from another type of Hepatitis, did a great job.
So..34 years?
My docs and I believe I was infected with HCV 56 years ago from a blood transfusion I had when I was 2 days old. Lab tests from the 70's (when I was in my teens) confirm that I had elevated LFTs and low WBC counts way back then but none of my docs said anything about those labs to me.
my dr. told me I probably got it when I had my kids 36 and 32, I found out in March. :( I have not started treating yet. Next month. :)

while I now have an svr of the hep virus, I'd estimate I had an active infection for 16,248,960 minutes
