Does anyone have a problem getting lab results from Dr

I have been at odds with my Dr, about getting bloodwork results to me. She is refusing to send me a copy of them.

The Pegasys starter kit had a journal for  keeping track of appt, meds, labwork, sx, questions.

I was not aware that we as patients have to use this to have lab info recorded in it by my dr.

She  said no to just sending me the results as they are printed by the lab.

I was not in physical/mental/emotional condition to just ask her why.

My pcp and other related doctors have not gotten any info sent to them by Medical Specialty Services.

Does anyone else have this problem?

"November 26: Headshop's Road Trip - Part 2"

Probably not as much fun as "Part 1" but another wise journey.

Good Luck.

I can't wait for your other appointment either!  You deserve better.  Tx is enough fun without having to deal with dummies, LOL!

According to Hipaa(Health Insurance portability and accountibility Act) 30 days within writing and they provide a sample letter to us the Dr. is supposed to copy us any hardcopy information including notes we ask for. I don't see where others on this site have had to resort to using HIPAA. I will, and I will need them anyway, I have an appt. with another Dr. and clinic in Burlington NC. November 26th.

This is hard for me to stomach either way. Last week my nurse called to tell me my dr. wanted me to get off from work to travel the hour or 2 back and forth to get bloodwork done when I had already talked to the Dr. about getting bloodwork done at the same lab company they use that is also located in my City. It takes about a lunch hour at most to have it done here.

The nurse said it still needed to be done there. I called Monday again with the same info about it being alright to get the bloodwork done here. It is Tuesday 5:20, I have heared nothing yet.

It would have been nice to know as soon as possible if for some reason, the blood needed to specifically be drawn there. Info is faxed from either lab anyway.
It would be nice to get a response so I can let my work know exactly.

I am looking forward to my November 26 appt. with the other clinic.

I believe they are understaffed and overly insensitive to our needs.

The old over under treatment. I don't think many people would actually pay to get treated this way on purpose unless you are in to S and M.

Sorry, got going there.

I just had my 3 month post vl done last Friday.
My appt. with my Dr. isn't til next Friday and today I decided I
couldn't wait to see if the virus was back or not so I went by my Dr.'s  office and asked the PA for a copy of my labs.  She immediatly pulled my chart and copied them, gave me a copy and I was on my way.  During tx, I always asked for a copy whenever I would see my Dr.  I really never had a problem with any of my Dr's.
It is important you find out what needs
to be done in order to get your lab results and have a hard copy for your book/journal.

Some medical practices attempt to obstruct the patient's right by throwing bureaucracy up as hurdles.  Some might require a release form (idiotic) or charge for copies (inappropriate) but you are still entitled to them.  Be as determined as you were for your trip two weeks ago.  As Jim mentioned, unacceptable.

This is unacceptable. Theseare your labs and you have a legal right to them. Ask if she wants you to sign some sort of release form but I'm not sure if that is even necessary. Certainly most here get their labs without signing anything. If that doesn't work, consider another doctor because it could be a harbinger of what is to come in terms of allowing you as a patient to participate in your own care. Hopefully it's something as simple as filling out a one-time a release form before faxing you the results.

That is completely outrageous not sending you your labs, and they belong to YOU.  I would keep calling, or actually, I'd show up there, and have them copy all of them while I wait blocking the appt. desk, and basically making it clear that I was not leaving until I had them.

But that's just me.  lol

Mine are sent to the doctor electronically by Quest, and the doctor posts them on his website for his patients to get to whenever they want.  If Quest doesn't mess up (and they HAVE), they generally get to me by 2 days time, and a little less than a week for the VL.

Don't take that kind of service, the doctor works for YOU!  Good luck, Head, I hope you get to feeling better too, I hate your doctor though!
