Does anyone know of a Hepatoligist in NYC area that takes HIP insurance

Does anyone know of a Hepatoligist in NYC area that takes HIP insurance. The reason I am asking is I will be finished with treatment in 4 weeks and I am not happy with how my Dr a GI conducted my treatment. I am a gt 3 and he didn't check for RVR at 4 weeks. He only took 1 viral load so far at 10 weeks.
Its a crapshoot and if I have to retreat at some time in the future I want to go to a DR that will do the right thing.

Dieterich might take HIP. Don't think Jacobsen will. Both are supposed to be excellent.

So, you recommend Dr. Jacobsen?

Dr.Douglas Dieterich and Dr. Robert Brown are both leading hepatologists and are both in NYC. You probably know of Dr. D from reading studies posted on forum, but Dr. Robert Brown is also a leading hepatologist. He was involved in the Win R study with Dr. Ira J. If you google, you can find out more info about him.

Dr.Robert Brown is at Columbia Pres and also has an office in northern NJ (Ridgewood.) He is there on Thursdays.

I know they both take BCBS and I would imagine they take other insurance also.

I had to spend $600 out of pocket but once I did it was so totally worth it - I went to the top doc Dr. Ira Jacobson and he helped work with my GI to oversee my regular treatment. it was worth every single penny of the money (and I"m a broke to death single momd).  He is wonderful and very willing to call and help work with the regular GI to get things straight. Unfortunately a lot of docs just read what they read out of old textbooks and don't care more than that but fortunately for us so - do keep up with the studies and journals.

You might just need to find a more up to date GI.

Sorry I don't have hip but I am in NY so I wanted to respond, I have aetna.
Did you try the hip hotline? I had that insurance once and couldn't find anybody for anything...I hope it's better now than it was.
