I see your point, but they are not health care providers and have no duty to you beyond providing or denying you insurance. Had you pressed them for the reason, they would have provided you with the proper form and then given you the info.
If a doctor did that, it's a different story. They DO have a duty to inform you of test results but the ins. company does not.
I hope you are hanging in there on tx and getting through it ok.
Thanks, I'm doing better, waiting to see my latest CBC results, but it seems that the Procrit is beginning to work. Hooray! How about you?
Re. the insurance disclosure, isn't their not informing applicants about transmissible diseases - from a public health POV - terribly unethical? It may be legal to not pass on this info, but is it right?
I agree, it does seem unethical and a public health risk to boot. I am very jaded regarding insurance companies and I think the last thing they care about are ethics or what is right. The only thing they care about is $$$.
You would think they have a duty at the very least to inform the patient or to relay the information to the health dept.
It doesn't seem to me that anyone is keeping track and making a proper accounting of those with this disease.
Im glad to hear the Procrit is kicking in, I've hovered around hgb 10 for most of my tx and it makes everything a struggle. How I've wished for Procrit at times! Hope it helps you.
