I've seen the needle and the damage done just like the next person, but if you want to do something positive to strengthen the borders just legalize drugs.  Sure that's super stupid, but do we have a choice?  What's stupid is to let the drug cartels take ppl out just to prove the point that Mexico has lost control over it's people both good and bad.  If it was up to me I would have legalized hard drugs along time ago.  If you legalize drugs you will kill the supply and demand standard that has endured and grown to all the killings that are going on today.  You want results, do something drastic.  What do you think?  later

People being killed over illegal drug profit is the highest form of terrorism. Yet it happens every day in American streets and all over the world. The sad reality is illegal drugs are a big business. One can say it is the fault of demand for illegal drugs. As an American i watch every day as our Government fights meaningless wars away from our own soil. But watch idly as our own borders are not secured and any one can just about walk across them. With the world economy worsening every day. People are just trying to feed there families. They have no choice but to do what they have to . It takes about ten years for the FDA to approve a new drug to save lives. Yet It takes only one day for someone to cook up some illegal drugs and sell it the next day.
