Emailing 60 minutes?

Do any of you think that it would be a good idea to email the news magazine show, 60 minutes and ask them if they'd do a segment on Hep C?   I'm just wondering that if a bunch of us sent emails to them and told them that we wanted them to do a segment on it if they would take notice and do one.  We could use the argument that there's this story in the news lately about the accidentally infecting of the people in Las Vegas.  We could remind them about the fact that there are so many people infected with Hep C in the U.S. and that there doesn't seem to be alot of research $$$ spent on it.  We could point out that there have been certain stars in the media who have made public their Hep C infection (by doing this, we're not violating any confidentially of those stars since they have come out into the open and stated that they had this virus).   Are any of you interested in emailing 60 minutes?  You wouldn't have to really be telling them that you wanted to BE on their show or anything, just that you'd like to see a segment done about it.  We need more CORRECT information to be out there to the public.

This is the address that I found out about for emailing them:  ***@****    or if this gets wiped out by medhelp, just type 60m@       then, next to it, put the cbsnews  and then, next to that put the .   and then, the com.   If you know what I mean.  :)

I'm going to try and write to them.  I hope somebody else decides to write them, too.

I think it is an excellent idea.  I watch 60 minutes, dateline, 20/20 all of the time and don't think I have ever seen anything about the Hep C virus.  I hope and pray that the emails get through and it works.

I'm going to be really honest with you guys...

The one lesson I have learned recently --- is that there is more money in the treating of ANY disease - compared to a cure.

Maybe if you put it that way ---- THE NEWS companies might be more interested in handling it.

Much luck to you all.

If any of you have a problem with sending the email out, there's a couple of others on here who have been able to send the letter out and haven't had a problem.  You have to type the address in your normal email address, not the web address link.  Anyhow, I have to be away from my computer for a few days, from Tomorrow through Thurs. and I'll need for you to try to get the send info from the others if you have a problem.  Don't give up on this idea though, as I'm going to be back and want to see that some of you have sent out some more letters!!  It doesn't really matter, what you say as long as you get the point across that we need a segment done on HEP C to raise awareness.   So, just type in the 60m   @   cbsnews    then, the dot.     then the com    (without the spaces of course)  into your address line on your normal email.

I had a problem with the first one I sent out, then I followed your instructions and it looks like it went through.  Whether it will do any good, who knows.  I figure it's best to give it a try than to sit and and let others die.  Oh I almost exposed myself as a wanna be rapper.  LOL  FWIW it may do no good at all, I don't see it as a waste of time as you just never know.  It's certainly not a waste of my time as for the 3 or 4 minutes it took me to write, what else was I doing that was more important?   I guess it's totally how you view things.  God Bless

I totally agree!  At the most, the very outter side of MOST, it took me 1/2 hr., but honestly, I don't think that I even took that long.  I just feel like, what in the world do we have to lose?  And we have everything to gain, by getting more out there for the general public to be made aware.  One of the points I made was that this is NOT just a drug addicts disease!  Also, ALOT of people watch 60 min on Sun. nights because it's not a work night and a lot of people have it on because it comes on just after the evening news (at least on the EST).  I'm certainly not implying that it's a show that will be viewed by EVERYONE.   They also, may not take note of our posts, but we haven't lost anything by trying.    :)     That's all I can do, is try, my MaMa always told me.
