Finally got my test results 3 mos Post......

Well I finally got the results of :

HEPATITUS C C VIRAL RNA, QUALITATIVE TMA   HCV RNA, QUAL , TMA

Not Detected

This test was performed using the Versant (R) HCV RNA Qualitative Assay (TMA)

So does this mean I am SVR ??? Or do I have to wait another 3 months and test again ?   I haven't gotten the call from the doctor yet.  This was my copy that came in the mail today.. Which means he got this yesterday and hasn't called me yet, as promised.

Well the doctor finally called this evening at 6 30.  I said private so I did not pick it up.   But he sounded so surprised over the news he was leaving..

He says I am calling to tell you that the test results came back good.  It shows the virus is undetected.   No longer there.  Wonderful news.  The treatment was a success.  So at this point its not there, we will want to test this again in 12 months.

Says he will fax a copy to my PCP.  But I want another test in May..That will be 6 months post.   So may have to get my PCP to run it.

Any way.. just wanted to let you know he finally called.  But I had my copy already, so I already knew.  But he had no way of knowing I had a copy.. LOL
I called on Thursday and they tried to tell me they had not gotten it yet. and I know they got it 2 days before.  I had mine on weds in the mail, so they had to have gotten it on tuesday.

But I seem to be gaining more weight.  So back to the slim fast all week next week.  But I know its just I have my appetite back for things I was not eating while on treatment.  And next sunday we are going to the State fair for my Birthday, and then a movie and to Red Lobster.   So I know I gotta lose a couple of lbs next week.
Cuz I cannot afford to gain anymore thats for sure.

But I definately feel much better now that I know I am still clear.  That is very promising to me.     And I am sure for other 1A's out there.      I will of course get that other test done at 6 mos post.. Just to be sure then a year later.

I am looking forward to our luncheon next month.  We can celebrate....  Well I have not been able to get online all day from my desktop, so now I am in the bedroom watching a movie and using my laptop.  I took a bunch of clothes to Goodwill today, and ended up going inside and finding about 10 tops.. All brand new and brand name.  I spent 12.50.  Its half price day on saturday.. LOL      I love when I find deals like that.

But gotta watch my weight or will have a bunch more clothes I cannot wear anymore.
I just wanted to check in and let everyone know that the doctor FINALLY did call.  You would have thought he would be excited to give me the news.. his tone just sounded so surprised.. LOL

congrats to you 100x and more!!   I see you live in Brandon, FL....I am a little south of you in Sarasota........ my 3 month post pcr was done in October 07 with UND results and just had 6 month test and was UND.    It is a wonderful feeling.  I see doctor Monday and assume she'll say congrats.    Last year when I ended treating in July, my doctor said the 6 month test was crucial as when it shows UND, medical community considers you "cured".   Of all terminology used in this disease, the most pleasant to hear are "UND", "CURED", "SVR".

I lost about 10 lbs during this ordeal and have put back about 4 to 5 and hope to stay at that.   The ability to enjoy food, and life again is just wonderful.

again, congrats to you.

Again Thank you all, and yes it was a wild ride, and glad to be off of it thats for sure.

Ladybug.. I can't do slim fast for everymeal.. LOL   just breakfast and lunch, then I eat a small service for dinner.    Sometimes I switch off and have my special K for breakfast, with yogurt.

Do ya think it would hurt to kill the Riba ?   and lose the rest of this ??? Just kidding of course.. but if anyone needs any.. I have some.

Its funny when I see someone who realizes I have lost so much weight.. they want to know how I did it.. tell them my secrets.... LOL   I always say of course, you don't want to lose it the way I did..

Congratulations on your triumph, it was a long hard journey, but you made it!

Thank you all for your kind words and well wishes, and most of all , all your support over the last year.  It sure has been a roller coaster.   I am so happy to be on the final lap now, just gotta get the next 12 wks past and test again.. Praying it stays that way.

I got up too late this morning to reply to any posts. I barely got to read half of them and get ready for work.   I did not sleep well last night.. tossed and turned.. but finally got a nice sleep time going and didn't want to get up..    Its been nice to sleep again.

So far I have now gained 8 lbs and thats it.. I refuse to gain anymore, so was back on the slim fast today.. LOL  And eating lite..    Oh well I can maintain it

I am so excited to know that it could actually be gone this time.  I pray that everyone of you gets to this place too.. Its wonderful...

I will still be here, lingering in the background and posting from time to time.  I am going to get on with life of course, but will always have an attachment to everyone here.  I am so looking forward to meeting some of you next month.  It should be fun, and we can keep doing it as long as everyone is up for it.

You all have given me so much .  For those it did not work for.. . Don't give up.  This was my 2nd time around as well.

And like FlGuy guy said.. who knows maybe the next best weight loss program .. LOL  I sure lost alot.. thats for sure..  Now     to just keep it off.
For those doing weight based.  I was taking 1200 Riba a day, and never reduced it , even after getting below 170 lbs.     all the way to the end.  And the max of the Pegetron.

Well I will be back.. Have to go get dinner going.

Congratulations! Unless you're stage 4, a recent study suggests a week 12 post tx UND correlates 100% with SVR. And even if you are stage 4, the correlation is still  pretty good. Of course, you will want to do your 'official' 6 month post tx test and even a one-year post tx test -- but based on the 3 month test, I do think popping the corks (your choice of beverage) is in order. So happy to hear such a happy ending.

Awesome, awesome, AWESOME! WOOHOO!!

Guess you should test again in another 3 mos and then at a year as most recommend. Greatest % of relapse is within the first month to 3 months, with only a very small % from 3-6 and even less from 6-1 year. At least that's what I remember.

So some say it is SVR/"cure" at 6 months and some at 1 year. I think I will continue testing just for peace of mind, but the 3 month UND test is sure the milestone we're all after.

Congrats to you!
