Newbie Here- Great Site for Support

Hi All,
I've been lurking here a long time and decided it is time to sign up and introduce myself. I was diagnosed last November with HCV, GT1A, Grade 2, Stage 1-2, VL 3.1 mil. This is a great site and I've learned a lot during the past nine months by reading the posts here. Thanks to all!!!

If all goes well I will be accepted into the CT for Boceprevir this fall, should know for sure within the next four weeks.

The name comes from sitting here in Houston, TX riding out Hurricane Ike tonight. So far all is well, still have power, that is amazing.

Hey!!!!!!!!!!!!! How are you doing?
It is difficult to just stay away. The whole experience never leaves you. the sx, the smells and tastes. Every Friday just staring to feel okay, and then knowing I had to give myself that shot. My hubby and I went through this at the same time, so we got some extra benfits!  haha
Im surprised were still married after all the riba rage we threw at each other.

Ahhhh the good ole days..........................

You have a great attitude! it will really help you during tx. Foofighter will be a great tx buddy, too. I'm glad that you made it through Ike OK. My niece and nephew are up here, they have no power yet, and are both unable to return to work for a while. I'm so sorry for everyone's losses but as you said, it's wonderful to see mankind pool together.

Northstar!
Hi how are you? I haven't heard from you in so long! I come and go, it's really hard to give this place up when it was such a big important part of my life. Hard to explain to those who have never been through this, right?

Take care all,

Many thanks to each of you for your Prayers and well wishes, they are very much appreciated. My Prayers are and continue to be with each of you.
I am running on limited power, through a generator and wireless network, fridge is also working. We were very fortunate, had a big mess in the yard but no damage to the house, did not even lose a shingle. So if I have to do without power for a little while I'm OK with that. Some of my neighbors were not so fortunate, some lost thier roofs while others had trees come down on thier houses. It is very gratifying to see people pull together when things like this happen, all helping each other with different needs. I have to say that i have a great group of neighbors, we pooled our resources so no one is doing with out the basics.

foofighter- "Trial buddies" sounds good. I should be going in for the screening in about two weeks, should have a definate date next week. I did have some insulin resistance, but I believe that is now under control through diet and exercise, I've lost almost 40 pounds and feel better (more energy) than I have in a long time, no more fatigue. I have no known other health issues. The reason why I waited to treat was to get myself in the best possible physical shape first, I think that I am almost there.

Take care all....

I'll add my welcome to the forum also.  Good luck with the boceprevir trial, it looks very promising, both for treatment naive and non-responders.  Will look forward to your ongoing posts.

Happy to see your post! Welcome to the boards.

That makes you, me, Rocker, PokerRon and one other person that posted recently (can't find him at the moment, connection is hanging while I try to search) that all are hoping to participate.

If we make it, I would imagine we will all be starting within weeks of each other. It would be great for us all to be trial buddies. I know that the R1626ers communicated often with each other and know they helped each other with trial related concerns.

I go in for my screening appointment on Sept. 29. Rocker is going in on Wednesday.

They have told me I may have to have a biopsy (last one was July 2006). Goofy thing is, when you are cirrhotic you don't have to  have one, but because I was staged at a 2 on that old biopsy (which was incorrect) they may need a new one.

I guess if the trial doc agrees that all my other records (labs, Fibroscan, CTs, Ultrasound and Endoscopy) stage me at 4, then I can pass on the biopsy. Don't mind having one, it is just one more delay.

She said first appointment will be labs, ekg, x-ray's and exam. They won't send me the consent form early, I have to read and sign at that appointment (two other trials I had contemplated had sent me a pdf prior to appointment).

Have you already done your screening appointment? Do you have any health issues that you feel might lessen your chances of getting in--if you don't mind my asking : )

Welcome in! Lot drier here on the forum than in Houston right now. I'm up in central Texas waiting for the wet weather to hit us. Thankfully we won't have the hurricane, which is currently over Houston as I write. Hope you are doing OK. the reports are pretty grim and jit's not over yet.
When you get power back, give us a yell:)
I finished tx 18 months ago with good success. Geno 2. Stage 1 grade 2.

Welcome to the forum.  Our HepC is similiar as far as geno, liver damage and VL.  When you have more time look at my profile.  Even what you may be accepted into is similiar to me, except I don't want to jinx myself so I don't want to talk about it.  lol  I was already excluded from one trial, so it's truly out of my hands.  "I ain't superstitious, but a black cat just crossed my trail".  lol  God Bless
