Finding a doctor

Does anyone know of a doctor in the state of Virginia that may be willing to help me with the fight against the dragon.Having worked out my treatment in another state I have resently had to move back to a more calming lifestyle in my home state where I have friends and family willing to help me while going through the treatments as my previous wife was not willing as it enterfered with her life and lifestyle. So that being said at 50 years of age and starting all over again it"s rough and trying to find a doctor willing to help me now that I have no insurance has been even more of a battle then the virus. So if anyone knows of a program or a clinic in the Tidewater region of Va,please let me know as it only gets worse and I seem to be fading rather faster these days. Thanks SailorSid

I was seen by a doctor in Northern VA @ the Metropolitan Liver Diseases/Gastroenterolgy Center.  I was tx with SOC for Genotype 1, 48 wks and am at my 4th mos post tx now.  I am UND so far and go for a 6 mos post PCR in November.  They do trial there as well.  It is probably too far for you but it is in VA...

Good luck to you and keep us posted.

If I have my geography correct, you are currently in the Eastern  part of the state, coastal region.  Virginia has a wonderful teaching hospital located in Charlotteville near Richmond which would be in the middle of the state I believe.  It's called the University of Virginia School of Medicine.  I'm not sure, but it's worth checking out to see if they are offering any trial programs.  Your medicine and care would be free of charge if you are accepted in a trial.  Additionally, the American Liver Foundation may be able to help with costs of blood work, doctors visits including biopsy, if a trial is not an option.  They would also be able to recommend a good specialist in your area.  Schering Plough and Roche Pharmaceutical Companies offer drug assistance for those with no drug coverage.  According you you income and they are very liberal, you meds are usually no charge.  I hope this information helps and good luck -  wish you the best.
