Food Poisoning

Well, I haven't been around much because last Thursday, I got a green chile burro from a nearby restaurant and 2 days later I was bed ridden by severe diarrhea. It still has not completely resolved, but it is 1000 times better. It made for a pretty lousy Thanksgiving. If that had happened to me during the Incivek stage I would have had to stop treatment. I am pretty lucky because I am a retired firefighter and one advantage is I still have many friends on the job, some of which (whom shall remain anonymous) came over twice and gave me a total of 4000 ccs of normal saline and ringers lactate. I also got Thiamine and D50W. This probably saved me a trip to the hospital. I went to wally world and bought 4 litres of pedialite. Wow, what a difference a little fluid made. If you are still in the first 12 weeks be very careful what you eat...Mark P.S. I also took shot number 41 last night, I just hope that the light at the end of the tunnel isn't a train.

Interesting that you asked that. I have a neighbor, kind of a new age young guy that came over with a kit of what he called essential oils and a little wheel card. He asked my symptoms, turned the wheel and came up with a mix of 3 oils, one being oil of oregano. Put it in a capsule and I took it. I don't know if it helped any, but I am still burping up the very strong taste. I make my own yogurt and it is a staple of my diet. Thanks for the suggestion...Mark

Have you tried eating some yogurt or another source of probiotics?  I was worried about the same thing, about parasites, since my eosinophils were at zero, at the end of my Tx, and they are the 65 of our WBC's that fight of foriegn invaders, like parasites, etc.
I used a couple drops of Oil of Oregano, in some milk (cuz it burns other-wise) because it has strong anti-parasitical values, and it's natural. It also works on bacteria and fungi~ You can buy it in a health food store,or on-line

Thanks for the kind words. I am not one to feel sorry for myself, but I must say I about fell into that. I have not been outside in 6 days. I feel like I am on house arrest, but fortunately I have friends that help me out. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Today and late last night, I finally ate some solid food. If I am not better by Monday, to the doctor I go. I hope it is not a parasite, because if it is, the treatment will probably take me near the end of treatment and that will be very bad...Mark

Certainly not the best way to spend your Thanksgiving.  Hope you feel better now and are regaining your strength.  I only had food poisoning once from leftover turkey soup and it was rather sudden and very violent, lasting several days.

At around week 4,  I picked up a very nasty intestinal bug that quickly resulted in losing about 5 lbs.  Due to just starting tx, it made the recovery a bit more challenging for the following several days.  Smart move on staying well hydrated.  This will hopefully pass quickly and become a distant memory.  Good luck in finishing tx.  Hopefully no more bumps in the road till eot.  Good luck.
