Well, I had to laugh at the political inference. Maybe the recent political posts were still somewhat on my mind. I think I did want to get into a different topic. I am also sure Tina Turner would have posted, too, Eureka! LOL!
Haven't heard much since the worst of it went through the coast. I sincerely hope everyone in its path is safe and sound.
I didn't think about the interferon/procrit refrigeration issue. Thanks, Jim.
Brent
Ike is looking very very ugly and ferocious. I pray that everyone out there is safe. This hurricane has left a path of destruction and is not through with it. It is a major natural disaster. It is scary and frustrating, that nothing can be done to stop it. I really hope that everyone is evacuating if they have been advised to.
Marcia
Oh well, that didn't work. The link was originally to a picture of a Galveston police officer at work today, but it's been bumped down the list. The lyrics are Jagger/Richards "Salt of the Earth".
Say a prayer for everyone, especially those working Search and Rescue tonight.
Say a prayer for the common foot soldier
Spare a thought for his back breaking work
Say a prayer for his wife and his children
Who burn the fires and who still till the earth.

Lived in Houston 2 years and went through TS Allison and the floods. What a mess! That area can not handle surges or heavy rainfalls at all. Also took direct hits from three major hurricanes here in FL and know how rough they can be to deal with. I have a lot of close friends in Houston and over in LA. I hope that everyone impacted by this miserable storm is okay. Blessings go out to all.
Galveston is such a lovely little town too. So many wonderful memories of running with my dog on the beach and flying kites. I hope it can withstand Ike. I feel kind of guilty that we dodged a bullet here considering a week ago we were making plans to evacuate people.
Hope your ok, saw Lots of LA, includung baton rouge have lost power. Take care!
Thinking of you!
Deb
Wow just saw the news....Houston is being ripped up already by the ocean surge. This is going to be bad....Many people under water already........Stay safe everyone affected by this nasty storm....
Love
Charm
Take care of yourself , your pets, and your meds!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stay safe!!
On a serious note, regards and best wishes to everyone affected by Ike. If you have meds in the fridge, maybe a good idea to make alternate storage plans.
Baton Rouge-We started getting the bands from it about 7 this morning. It is 11am and they are starting to gust more frequent and a little harder.
Best wishes to all that is in its path and don’t take any chances. We all know how unpredictable these things can be, especially just before making landfall.
This is a big storm, bigger than Katrina, Geesh what a mess. not just the eye of the storm but the whole thing. Big and ugly.
My daughter is Texas, but up near Austin , her in laws in San Antonio, so they should be ok. Bug take care, I will say to you what I always tell Charm, I drive her crazy bugging her. I am like her storm Mama, lots of bottled water, batteries, ice packs if your treating. Well you know the drill.
Even the winds I=will be bad.
Deb
First I'm thinking oh no, another political thread. Then I realize it's about another form of mass destruction. So who has anything against Ike :)
I have been watching this post since the beginning and did not think of either Ikes... I actually knew what you were talking about and am closely watching the progression of this horrible storm. I have a first cousin and her family in TX, but fortunately they live further up north.
I hope everyone will stay out of harm's way and please do evacuate when your asked to. I really pray that the strength of this storm will come down, before it hits the shores.
This has again brought the gas prices to it's highest peak... it must be crazy for everyone.
"Don't like Ike...?"
Actually, Brent, my initial (and irreverent) knee-jerk reaction to your post was "... not if your name is Tina Turner!"
My second thought was similar to ladybug's... (Eisenhower?!?)
Phew! I'm relieved it's a thread asking how people are faring under the weather ... and not about how people are weathering under the politics! ;)
Sending well wishes to all in Texas and in Ike's path... may mother Nature show kindness to all...

oh i repeated your post, sorry, I didn't see it either! I am in lala land. Sorry.
I'm so stupid, I thought you were talking about Eisenhower.
I'm not kidding!
And I live in Texas!
There were just so much political discussion at the time you posted, it just didn't sink in....Lately tho, I was trying to remember who had made a reference to Ike and I know now it was you in my subconscious! I'm really pathetic!
I'm not close to Ike, but most of us will be affected in one way or another. Family or friends that live in the area will be worried about and checked on, and the evacuees will be coming to our towns looking for shelter. I work in a nursing home, and we're on alert and prepared to take as many as we have room for, which isn't very many beds.
I worked in a larger home during Katrina, and we had buses filled with stretchers deliver people to our facility from the airport. I was working in a larger town then also.
Well, so far 2 weddings have been canceled and no water here yet.
take care,
High and Dry here in central TX,
