Apparently, a PCR (personal computer reprieve) reveals SVR (spam volume reduction). Need to follow up to identify any breakthrough. Spammers mutate.
What I saw on CNN was that even though they caught this guy...the number of spams in fact increased after this event.......seems like there is no lack of span initiators.......
Yeah, I saw on the news where that scum sucking spammer went down recently. But they said he wasn't even in the top 10 list of major spammers. The real bad ones primarily work out of Russia where there is little oversight or control there. The guy that ended up getting caught was working in the US, making him more vulnerable. But you never know, maybe that particular spammer had your number and when he dropped off your spam dropped off? Or maybe the other ones are temporarily laying low for a bit after seeing what happened to one of their bretheren. I'm sure they'll get it sorted out and return in full force soon enough. "Have you seen this?? GREAT WEBSITE!"
Grrr....
My information is two years old, but when I retired from the software business, there were many companies working on very powerful spam detection software. Perhaps we are seeing the fruits of that labor.
Interesting; yes, I receive hardly any SPAM anymore, but I thought it was due to the fact that I stopped people from FWDing stuff to me, right around the same time... But whatever the reason, that's terrific news. Hope they catch all of them and hang them from their cojones. Stupid jerks.
how ya feeling?
I WASN'T having any problem with spam until (stupid, greedy me) got sucked into one of those free apple ipod phone offers and, totally against my better judgment, filled out the online application. now I'm getting 100+ emails a day.
guess i gotta change my addy again. :(

Why do people send spam? How does it benefit them? I feel kinda silly asking this....but do they get some kind of financial reward for filling up our mailboxes...just trying to find out what their purpose is.
People send span to feed the hungry and to help those less fortunate.
If your service provider provide you the ability to create 'additional mailboxes' on your account, you can create one for those times when you do Ipod-type things. Otherwwise, keep your 'real' address/inbox for those people/purposes that you don't want contaminated with spicey ground-up former animals.
