How to accessorize a pasty face

Well, today is the day - no escaping it any longer.

I had my hair trimmed today.  Then I came home, glanced in a mirror and was nearly blinded by the overhead light gleaming off my bright shiny scalp.  So its time to choose a new look.  What to do, what to do?  Break out the wigs (I hate 'em)?  Go for the gypsy look in a big silk scarf?  Take the veil?  Shave it all and look like a borg?  Tie on my favorite Bugs Bunny bandana like a "dew rag" (or is that "do rag," I can never be sure)?  Or do the Jack Sparrow look with maybe an eyepatch thrown in?(Arrrrgh!)  Could maybe do the Johnny Depp eye makeup if the eyepatch seems too extreme.

Looking for guidance here.  Vote early, I leave for Mexico tomorrow.

jd

Oh, probably should mention that I'm afflicted with the huge Irish head.

Lonestar  -  A berka, ROFL!!!  That would take care of the pasty face, the peach fuzz and the bozo the clown hairline in one simple move.

Deb - Big straw hat and glasses - fantastic!  Think I can pull off the Jackie O look?

Made it to Mexico the hard way and can (it appears) sometimes get online.  Brought a mixed bag of gear, thus far mostly the bandana.  ope all are well, will check in as Mexican internet service permits.

Hasta luego.

Don't miss that ride. I love to be going to bike week this year. Pulled of meds at 6 months. My husband worried alot while I was on the meds about me riding my bike, but what a stress reliever it was for me.

I am thinking wigging it , looked at those pony tails,  my spots are worse on the front and top, so couldn't figure out how to make them work! lol

I have tried to call you several times - you do not have an answering machine on for some reason.

Will you be home tonight or this weekend?  I just want you to know that I did try - and then i forgot to contact you and let you know that I've tried.

My llama lashes are long gone too isn't that a shame? They were pretty.  My hair is a couple inches long (six? seven?) but I got it into my head I could streak it myself - big bad mistake unless you like how David Caruso looks.  Now, Ive got to get it done and then I can stop with the wigs.

Personally I'd love to keep it on forever the nice long thick hair (instead of my new stick straight thin ten year old girl looking hair) but people are like hey hasn't your hair grown back yet?  Sure how much do they think it grows in one year!  Morons.

Hi, couldn't wear wigs (hate hats too) they just bother my head so I tried the clip on hair pieces. I had what little hair I had (lost about 60%  and what was left was totally fried) left dyed to match the pieces. They looked really nice. Had a clip on pony tail which was the one I mostly wore to work and then I had about 5 shoulder length pieces. They took a lot of time and ENERGY which I had very little of, to get in so I usually chose the pony tail. I am alomost 5 months post tx and I too have those porcupine spikes all over my head. Its growing but sooooo slow. I did have long thick straight hair. Now I kind of have mish mash - short in some spots - long in others and spikes. But my spikes now cover the BIG part I had. Oh - my llama lashes are totally gone!!! Those I would have kept.

I been looking at wigs also. On ebay and on line, scared to buy one till i know if it looks good on me or not!

I totally agree about the confidence psychologically. factor.

Cracking up about the peach fuss, and if you now tell me that waxing can't be done I will scream!

What about the nails? Wow I want a manicure and bright red polish! They are amazing and even annoying growing fast!

I've been wearing a wig for about a year now - it made such a difference for me, not just looking better (hey I have better hair now than I ever did) but also psychologically.

Then you just get a bit of self tanner for some color so you don't look grey and bingo.

I mean honestly you do get used to it in time - it's never like you don't have it on but the options are limited for us hair challenged gals.

Of course I couldn't get the peachfuzz hair to stop growing on my face and I remember those great eyelashes while on treatment but they are long gone problems now.

Pretty soon I"ll get my hair cut and colored but I'll always keep the wigs...........for special occasions anyway ;)

I think you left already, but a big 60's sun hat with some  big shades to sit by the pool.  I
liked who said it to change it up, A wig for dinner, scarves, you will be in cabos,  SHOP!  I do love shopping!
The hair is so annoying,   the grey stripes are what are bugging me!
I find hair everywhere, sometimes i will be talking or whatever and there is a piece hanging in my eye, of course it just hangs there nagging me, But CAN I FIND that piece of hair? Heck no!

Have a great time!

the weird thing is, I think it may be starting to grow back. I've got all these spiky hairs that look like a thin mohawk...very weird I know! I have noticed that the hair coming out in my hands and in my comb has lessened the last few weeks.I'm in week 36/48.
I'm probably just really odd( i did have shingles when i was a child instead of chicken pox)..=)

I would have the scarf thing ready and one wig on reserve just in case. Im  in the same boat- not vein, but it sucks on top of everything else.

Get some pretty scarfs!

I know what you mean about the part on that pageboy.  It helps if you do one of those irregular - a lock to the left, a lock to the right - type parts.  I also had my hairdresser trim the bangs a bit.  Glad you're having fun.

I think you should bring the wigs. I was talking to my sister the other night and she was saying (though she has her own hair) that it would be great to be able to go swimming on vacation and then in the eve...throw on a wig to go out to dinner. nygirl says we just will get used to them...like we won't even know they are on our heads? I got a couple in the mail yesterday and they are great. I actually went to the grocery store and ran in to a guy I know..I was wearing a strawberry blonde pageboy. Then later in the eve., I met him again in town wearing a shorter, dark auburn/deep red wig...he thought they both looked good. He asked if I was having fun..I said, Yea!  With a long wig..also a pretty scarf if the part doesn't look all that natural...just an idea. I hope you have a wonderful time in Mexico and look forward to hearing about your trip. Enjoy and thanks for everything.

Trish - that's right, I forgot about Sinead O'Connor.  You're brilliant and I probably will mix it up.

jools - you've got a mohawk, I've got Bozo the Clown's hairline.  Put us together and we make a head of hair!

thanks all

I was noticing I look like I've got a mohawk growing on top of my head. I started losing hair fairly early in treatment, now in week 36 and it's starting to grow back, either that or my punk rock days are revisiting me! LOL...
I'm opting for scarves!

You've got the huge Irish head?  Well then, I vote for the Sinead O'Connor look. ;->  Kidding....but if it's what you want, go for it.

Add a scarf to it one day, a "do rag" another....change it up.  One day you'll feel like a scarf, another day something else.

I dunno what I'll do til I get there.  I'd be interested to know what you go with.

Enjoy Mexico. :)

You are made of some strong stuff.  I couldn't lift Lance Armstrong's racing bike, much less a hogg!!!  Good woman, don't let 'em have the FIRST annual event without ya.

I saw those scarves too, great idea.  Well, now I don't have to try to get haircare products through airport security.
