Am I in the right place?

Just stumbled into this site, feeling kind of blind (and dumb) right now. Is this only a message board or is there chat rooms and informational pages as well here. I have had HepC for almost thirty years but am just now having to deal with it. Can somebody (PLEASE) help 'an old lady cross the street?'

I came here very soon after I was infected and diagnosed and I didn't know anything really about hcv or treatment or... anything really.  So just ask specific questions about anything you want and people will answer you.  That's what I did and folks were very helpful in giving me information.

You can also do a medhelp search and look at archived strings on different hep c topics.  Sometimes we talk in shorthand a little bit around here too, so if you don't understand any of the abbreviations, just ask about that too.

You'll know more after your dr visit on the 22nd (saw your other post).  Do you know your geno type?  Have you had a biopsy?  If so, what is the results of that?

Anyway, welcome.  It is great to meet you... only wishing it was under different circumstances.  Jacob

Welcome and believe me (us!) you are in the right place!

It is great here for anyone with Hep c. Treating, not treating, deciding, learning.
I would have never completed tx if I hadn't been here.

Good luck ahead, LL

I think I just got hit by a speeding trash truck, so I'm a road toad already!  nygirl is flashing back to Ozark Mt. Daredevils (wasn't that who Oooo-ooohed to Jackie Blue?!!) but she knows how to get across blindfolded now!

Ask away, and welcome. This place is an oasis.
Nighty night for now all,,

I remember that song Ooooo JackiBlue ha that feels like a flashback of some sort!

Anyway, everybody in here gets where you are and what you are feeling.  We all have been there, believe me.

Treatment can be a scary time but the more you learn about the disease, it's treatment and how to make it through it - the better off you will be.  There are helpful hints (especially when dealing with side effects) that can truly make your time on treatment a better experience.  It's never a fun thing to go through but it can be tolerable.

Read all you can and ask as many questions as you have.  Some of us old timers are still in here only to give back what we were given when we first stumbled in scared and alone.

so ask ask ask!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome, you are in exactly the right place.  No chat rooms but lots of information.  Scroll down and check out "Most viewed health pages" on the bottom right of the screen.  People on this forum are in all stages of Hep C, (treating, finished treatment, preparing to treat, exploring options) and there is a wealth of information and support to be had here.  This is a great place to post questions and problems or just to vent.  Best of luck.

All depends if your treating or not, you certainly have all the ear marks of someone treating, lol! What can we do for you?
