I seem to handle my stress while sleeping.

I clinch my hands and grind my teeth while sleeping, several braces and a mouth guard have helped eliminate some of the joint and teeth pains that come with these problems, but not totally.  I have been having these issues for years and I look foward to getting rid of them.,  I live in St. Charles county and I looking for a solution on how to handling what I believe are the ways I handle my stress. Can anyone suggest someone or something to help me?

Hi Paul,
I've started doing yoga about a month ago. I really like it....I feel so refreshed and relaxed, when I come out.
You could also try, listening to a relaxation cd, with nature sounds as you fall asleep.
Exercise as lapis suggested, will help burn off that negative energy. Good luck, I hope you find something that helps.

Some people have stress while sleeping; my ex wife used to fall asleep while having sex. It's a funny world.

Massage is an awesome stress reliever for the whole body.  Your therapist can also massage the facial muscles to help the jaw relax.  You can massage your own jaw muscles, too, doing this daily might reduce some of the tension there, and you might want to do it before you go to bed.

It's also good to practice relaxing your jaw.  Many of us hold tension in our jaws, and a relaxed position can be with mouth closed but teeth not touching.

A bit of daily exercise can also help with stress relief.  Good luck to you.

I've ground my teeth for years from work stress.  I have noticed that it's much worse on treatment.  Lat time at the dentist, I got a new, better kind of bite guard.  It fits over your front 6 teeth and keeps the back teeth from touching at all.  Cost $125 bucks and you have to have a creative dentist, but since your back teeth don't touch at all, they don't ever hurt; all the pressure's on the front top teeth and it's much less pressure than you get with one that covers all the top teeth.  it's all in the right bite guard.

I'm hoping it will all clear up when I leave this job, but who knows.
