Well, to give my personal story, I DID have Hep C for 20 yrs, but after 4 miraculous shots of Interferon, along with ribaviran pills, my virus was Undetected.
How long was your Treatment? I am thinking that
what happened was you had an error in your lab work. That happens all the time, unfortunately.
I had a positive Hep C test 20 yrs ago, which told me my viral load, and many other viral loads since, plus I had very elevated liver enzymes, which indicate inflammation, from Hep C, especially the ALT.
Were you only given an Antibody test, origianlly?
I agree with everyone above. Why would you seek a trial if you didn't KNOW for a fact you had HCV. People seek treatment/trials when they find out they have HCV, they don't seek trials to be tested for it. MY GP referred me to a GI when my liver enzymes were found to be elevated, the GI did the testing. MY GP didn't say hey lets get you into this trial to be tested. And what drug (injections) are you refering to, you don't even give it a name. And what is this talk about 50K. Weird is an understatement.
In 2005 there was a ton of data about Hepatitis C. Your own doctor is usually the first person to detect/diagnose HCV.
If you are unaware of that it kind of makes me wonder about your version of events.
I am confused too. Why are you sueing Merck? How did you get into a trial unless your GP or someone else ran an antibody test? They need a lot more data than that too to accept you into a test. The whole thing is pretty weird. I would like to hear how you got involved in the testing.
For clinical trials, the sponsor (merck) seldom does any of the testing, that is done by the investigator at the clinical trial site. Merck would have taken the investigator's information and reported it in the marketing application.
I don't understand the comment regarding for $50k it should work. If you are talking about Victrellis, it does work. Not for everybody, but I'm sure there are lots of people on this forum that will tell you it does.
