Someone told me to use "cats claw" for low wbc. She said that she used it while on chemo and that it works. My Dr. says that you shouldn't use herbal suplements because they are hard on the liver. Ever heard of that one?
My ANC was over 500 for the majority of treatment but did drop to 320 at one point. Two weeks later it was over 1000. As you know from the other thread, many doctors intervene with Neupogen or dose reductions at ANC 500 or even ANC 750. No, I never took Neupogen, but did have my ANC monitored weekly at that point, which is proabably a good idea in your case at ANC ".4" which appears to be the same as "400" the way mine is reported. Good news that your hgb? is up. I didn't think my liver doc saw my labs either until I walked in, but I was told they do review them as they come in and only call if there's a problem. Hopefully that's what is happening with you, but if in doubt you can always call the doctor.
All the best,
-- Jim
my WBC was 2.0 and ANC was at 694 at last lab work; was given prescription for Neupogen. Did not want to take for 2 reasons (trying to keep another drug out of my body, and cost for drug is very high). Was given an order to have another blood draw. For me, personally, I would rather go in for blood draws to monitor the ANC etc. than automatically take another drug, just because the protocol says "when ANC is this - prescribe that". Those are my personal feelings only.
Does neupogen bring up platelets? ass well ass wbc. I am not on tx but my platelets have dropped to 37 in stead of my average 65
No, I don't think that neupogen helps platelets. My Dr. doesn't want me on it because spleen enlargement is a side effect and mine is already enlarged. My last platelet count was 48. I started treatment with them at 88 so they haven't gone down much on tx. Hope you do alright....-Libby
