As far as life expectancy goes, I have read it is far more likely to die WITH Hep C rather than OF it (that is if you either don't treat or treat unsuccessfully). New treatments are right around the corner and improve the chances of shorter, successful treatment outcomes.
There is no way to answer that question, there are too many variables.
what is the life expectancy for one who has been diagnosed
As jd said, many of us never know how we got it. Perhaps your dr didn't test you for hepc when you were pregnant the first time.
I have 4 children without hep c, but all were born before I was diagnosed. I might have had this disease for 25 years or more, but luckily, it wasn't passed on to any of my kids.
Has your husband ever donated blood? That's a good way to find out if you have the disease. As others have already pointed out, it's rare to get hepc through sexual intercourse.
Good luck, I know it's hard not to worry, but the more you learn, the more you'll be prepared to deal with this.

Did you ever use IV drugs? I mean ever, even if only once? Have you had any transfusions, piercings or tatoos lately. Did you ever get tested before? You may have had Hep C for a long time and you would not necessarily know it unless you had symptoms that caused your doctor to test for it.
HCV is not sexually transmitted, except in a vanishingly small number of cases, if that is your worry. It requires blood to blood contact to pass the virus on. Many of us never know how we got it.
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to me. The thing is I went from dating a chiropractor...(who I was in love with)....then finding out he was cheating on me...To going to a red neck friend because I was sad. To my surprise the redneck turned out to be a much better man- then the chiro could have ever been. The only problem I have is when the red and I had our 1st There was no diagnosis of hep c... now w/ our 2nd there is. How could I have recieved it?

Elaine gave you good advice. While you will find folks on here who have children born with HCV (vertical transmission), the majority of us don't. My daughter, born before I was diagnosed is negative. Being that you already know, maybe there are precautions that can be taken. You should discuss that with your doctor, because I honestly don't know if and what they might be, because I didn't know I was positive until 4 years after I gave birth. Good luck
