You're so welcome!!!
Btw, I used those large 1 gallon glass jars for conserves, took the lids off and used paper towel and a rubber band to close it. It worked perfectly. Then once the kombucha was ready, I'd fill it into bottles and store it. I would put the dates on a label on the bottles, as sometimes you get really good ones and I would put them aside for special occasions. They are even better if you let them mature for about 4 weeks before opening the bottles. I've had some which almost tasted like champagne. Moussa and I would take them to special picnics in the park or romantic dinners.
I'm going to start up my production again, this is really getting me going again!!!
Thanks for the great tips!!
Denise
Okay, I found it!
This is definitely the best site for kombucha. kombu.de Once on the site click on the British flag further down and you get into the English speaking site. You can order the book from amazon or scroll a bit further down and you can print whatever you are interested in. There is a step by step description on how to make it under *How to make your own Kombucha tea*
From my personal experience it tastes best with chinese gunpowder green tea. I get those single use large paper tea bags.
And be sure no one smokes around the cultures and don't store them in the kitchen, the kombucha will get moldy and die.
It's not really hard to make...it can be dangerous. You have to wear some eye protection and long sleve shirt. It's fun once you get the hang of it. I did a lot of research when I first started learning...made my own little how to manual. I started making my own blends for certain things like for sunburnt skin and kitchen soap to help get the garlic or onion smells out of your hands after cooking. I make one with citronella that my sister loves (she has a little farm)....it keeps the mosquitos off you when working outside, kills the fleas on the dogs, she even uses it as a saddle soap and it helps to keep the critters out of her saddles when in storage...
I would be happy to share any info with you...pm your email address and I will send you some info....and an easy recipe or two to get you started.
Gator
Is soap hard to make? I love doing stuff like that.

GSD...I have heard of the sugar and water thing...sounds like it would be gritty and a good exfoliate...my sister gave me a sugar scrub for Christmas a couple of years ago...I never got the hang of using it though.
The soap that I make also works very well on greasy hands...hubby likes it better than gojo. I think, because it's all natural, it breaks down the dirt and grease better. I have even used it to get stains out of clothes also...it's really great on any organic stains.
I like it because it is kinder to the skin than commercial soaps and since I make my own I know exactly what goes in it.
Now that you mention it, I have heard of sugar and water made into a paste, left on till it dries helps.
....I make my own soap...I have been told that it works very well on acne. I use only vegetable oils with at least 40% olive oil then blend other oils for differnent formulas. My cousins and one of my life long friends have both told me that my Goats Milk Oatmeal and Honey soap gave their teenagers good results with acne. So my suggestion is that you look for a handmade soap to wash your face with...then follow the wash with witch hazel and a light moisturizer. (you can mix some of the witch hazel in the moisturizer also)...
Look on ebay for handmade soap, I have seen some really great deals there...look for a goats milk oatmeal and honey blend...let me know how it works...k
Gator.
I have made it with all kinds of different green teas and it has the best taste when one uses the 'chinese gunpowder' and organic cane sugar. Do not use brown sugar, it tastes like krap.
Thanks Marcia. I did find some recipes, I guess I have to buy a starter baby.

Sorry, haven't been online before now...
There is a really good site with good info on how to brew the kombucha. I just need to dig into my papers and find out from where I used to print all the info.
Lal, as to black heads, I'm not too specialized on them. I get them very seldom. I worked my son's nose gently with tweezers a while ago, as he had a lot after getting back from polluted Jakarta. After that I told him too scrub regularly. That worked very well.
I think that during tx the fat deposits get quite dry and are difficult to extract. Try to use a lot of moisturizing cream and a facial now and then should help. Here in Denmark they do special facials for people around your age, as the skin usually has different needs, and make it also at a more affordable price.
lal, (do you mind the abbreviation of your "name") I had great success with Proactive but I wouldn't use it on TX. might be too strong, it was for me. My Derm Dr said it was coming from within. Lets see if Marcia has any natural ideas. go to my SVR post on the other side and read my comment about you LOL
great post! i'd also like to know! Marcia is my organic teacher, do you have any natural suggestions for clearing blackheads?
