However, can't post on medhelp with activated. Could allow medhelp as a white site but will get images and defeats the purpose. Any workaround on this issue? Emi
Thanks for the tip on Firefox NoScript add on. Only using defaults and not getting any adds on medhelp. My old lappy con do with not having to load all the images. Thanks heaps. Emi
You can report ads to medhelp (via contact us) if you think they are improper.
Just some general information about how ads work on any web site that relies on them, such as medhelp.
Ads reach a site like this from a variety of sources. Some are direct deals, where MH sells the ad space. Some are syndicated via specialized ad services that sell medical related ads, finally, they can be syndicated through a general ad service like google.
Obviously, directly sold ads will have priority over the others, and google will be the lowest priority (why? they are less likely to be relevant, and they most likely pay less than a directly contracted ad).
Sometimes there are several interests involved. As an example, if a company purchases 20 million ads, but only has 4 million ads sold, they might blast the rest of the space with something irrelevant.
Once again, though, report ads that are improper. When you do that, report the page on which you saw the ad and its position on the page.
its like this with myspace also, if you post a blog about weight loss, a few minutes later on the top of your profile you will see a huge add for some stupid weightloss drug
i believe medhelp started for cancer patients and has just evolved from that, i am sure the money from advertisments helps the forum stay afloat
there is someone on here, like that lawyer who is using medhelp for advertisment and personal agenda, i just ignore him......

Brings back fond memories of the Terracotta days when we didn't have to put up with all this. Back then it was the post that took center stage. Now it the ads and the silly Recent Activity.
Most of the changes MH have made dont seem that beneficial to me.

I keep seeing ads for weight loss and the South Beach diet ... I blame that on Jim.
Come to think of it, I had posted the Kaiser Permanente – Kid Wisdom commercial awhile back and it was plastered on the left side of the page as well as the top…

Mike...now thats interesting! Had no idea u could do that!
NY girl...LOL! My favorites are the ones that show that 28 yr old looking '10 yrs. younger' with their creams, tonics. Or the 125lb 30 yr. old that lost 25lbs on 'our miracle weight loss pill'.
Is sad that they allow snake oil sellers here :(
Google serves ads based on your locality, as determined by your IP address, which is allocated to your connection by your local internet provider.
Mike's got the sollution if it bothers you.
Wrinkles, boobies, ambulance chasers......wow, its all SO relevent to Hep C!!! I'm going to try Mike's solution.
I get the lady with the face cream too.........tracking cookies, they really do have the ability to tell what other **** we've looked into don't they?
Now, I'm not sure what the bouncing boobie lady says about Jasper though ;-O
(JUST KIDDING!) ;)
I use Mozilla Firefox with the NoScript add on. I disallow double click and Google syndication and I never see any adds - just a nice clean board.
Mike
Yes its all over....................They defintely know what there doing.
If ya start getting ads for hand creams Jim....i think they know what your are doing.
Trinity, I aint even touching that one, lol. But I was getting this advertisement with a girl twirling and swirling and didn’t pay attention other than the fact her boobs bounced not pronounced but as she was jumping on an angle well it looked so natural and even got slapped for pointing it out.

I don't understand the mechanism, but many of the ads do appear to be locally served, i.e. advertising for a business or service in the area. Also, if a particular subject is being discussed -- let's say Hemorrhoids -- then an ad for Prep H. might pop up. But you know something, it's not fair. I opened a thread on "Bikini Girl" and guess what, no bikini girls advertised. What a let down.

I get all the wrinkle cream advertisements. You move the curser on the lady's face and she instantly looks 20 years younger. Are they trying to tell me something?
It always all about the advertising dollars, period! There is always some crazy stuff being advertised!
They are worse when you ar enot logged in.
