I am so happy to hear this. I am only on week 29 of 48 and my hair is barely an inch tall all the way around. My hair line receded really far back too. I knew this was going to happen but I am so freaked out. I cried and my poor husband felt so helpless. I even have hair pieces I can where but I never thought I would actually ever *need* them.
I know how encouraging it must be to see baby hairs and feel pokey new hairs. I am happy for you. I have read Pro and Con about Biotin but I am ready to try anything!
That is great, and you only have 8 more weeks to go!
Thanks for your post. While I didn't get bald spots, my hair thinned a lot, and continue to break off. I will need to try biotin. I now sport a very short spikes look, vs my old style. Have to admit it is a lot easier to style, or lack of style :)
I took that during tx and think it may have helped too. Dnt think i grew new hair but think it helped slow down loss for me. Post tx I stopped and the hair started falling out more so started taking it again for a few more weeks post tx. Just thought I would mention it in case this helps you.
Also used coconut oil to help moisturize the scalp a couple times a week. Think that helped too especially while on incivek and my skin dried up so much and my scalp itched like crazy.
Great news that it's growing while you are still on tx!
I do not see balding but is thinner. I see tons of peach fuzz. A few months back my regular doctor gave me prescription for eyelash grower. Haven't had it filled yet. Will have it filled a bit after TX. My eyelashes have thinned and that is so not okay. They were the flutter screens to the lamps of my soul...HA!
Thanks so much....Congrats on the more hair. YEAH!
I had some itty bitty hairs growing in before tx was over but I also had lots of hair still falling out. Even though a lot has grown back, its this fine stuff not my usual hair. My husband says the same thing happened last time, fine hair followed by my thicker hair.
But now, I'm thinking about biotin. I miss my thick mane !
Thanks for sharing.
The last few months of my 48 week tx I also noticed the same regrowth occuring, with the tiny little hairs coming in. My hair thinned and went very straight, but never had any balding. I have no idea why the regrowth occured.
Have you had your Biotin (Vit H/B7) level checked to determine if there is a deficiency? Also, its good to have the thyroid checked during tx, since it will also effect the endocrin system, including hair loss.
I just picked up Trader Joe's Biotin, which is 5,000 mcg (or 5 mg), and I'm taking one per day with my after-breakfast meds. Even my husband has noticed the difference in my hair, and he is usually not very attuned to that sort of thing.
How strong a capsules are you taking please?
So happy for your baby hairs are coming in. I am wondering though when I can expect my llama lashes to arrive :)
Congrats on your new hair coming in. Nice to have a positive side effect from drugs huh? Enjoy.... :)
Glad the biotin is working for you. I started taking it 2 months before starting tx. Apparently, the biotin makes your hair strong and therefore it stays on your head longer. I don't know about the regrowth.
Cheers to you, oh lady o' locks!

That is great! I just bought some biotin yesterday so I'm hoping it works for me also.
