Off topic, but a

Very off topic but I figure if we can discuss reality shows & many other things, I could throw what I think is a great cause/show in the mix.
Some of u know I am very into animal rescue. Yrs ago.....I had an idea of a rescue that would use troubled juveniles to help care for the animals. Well, many things kept me from every doing it, all though I have saved THOUSANDS of dogs, cats, squirrels, even buzzards ;), through the yrs, all out of my own pocket.  I never give an animal away unless it is spayed or nurtured, even with papers! And I have taken many back!
Pitbulls, while yes, can be a dangerous dog, are done so wrong by the media and are a soft spot for me.  Poodles bite more then they do! Any case of 'mauling/attacks' is nearly 100% the owners abuse or irresponsibility. NO dog should roam, be unattended near the public. If you are on the hate pits wagon, please just pass this thread. I have a rescue pit, she is one of the sweetest, most loving dogs I've had.(I have had many) It took me 2 mths to get her not to shake when I touched her, 3 mths to chase a ball. She is scarred, inside & out, but the first to greet me at my door and cuddle every night. Aggression in her, at most is when chasing a ball, to be first there! No, I would not leave her in the yard alone with a child, but nor would I many other dogs, tho she loves children. ONLY because she is a 'rescue', with abuse back ground. I've had many pits, no abuse, that are totally fine with children, very protective of the family. IF she ever showed one sign of human aggression, I would put her down, only because of the damage her bite will do versus a poodle!  I have put down many sick or severely aggressive animals. It is heart breaking, when it came from abuse.  I had a German Shepard that I had to place, that was a biter, it was MY responsibility to either put her down or place her in the right environment. In the hundreds I have handled, I had one hurt another animal (of which the other animal started the fight) and one attack a human- that, human was a drunk, huge man, stranger entering my yard where my children were playing after I told him 'DON'T walk into my yard". That pit, released & came to me as soon as I commanded it. All mine were well trained and supervised, which is owner responsibility, of any breed. I have 3 lg dogs now. I can have them in my yard with me, they will not leave their trained boundaries. A dog, cat can walk into MY yard, even if they start to run, I shout 'here', they stop dead and come back. Train your critters folks!
The abuse & sick treatment of this one breed is astronomical, above all other animals.'Pitbulls' -( not a breed, describes several breeds) score better than 83% in temperament tests by the American Temperament Test Society (in comparison, well-loved border collies of Lassie fame scored under 80%). Bull Terrier (a smaller type) is on the top 10 dogs for children list.
Getting my highest respect is not easily achieved! Let alone my highest admiration & respect for a woman I have never met in person! To do what this woman has done/does is phenomenal. The time, stress, and paperwork alone would stop most. It did me! I started my 501c3 2 yrs ago, but post tx and time, stopped me. The time, dedication, money...just unbelievable.   If you agree, please take 2 minutes to vote here,  and tune in to her show every weekend to support her/this cause.

I myself have had a number of rescues go through my kennel (personal kennel) and 3 of the dogs that I own now are rescued, one is a dwarf GSD that I took at 9 weeks of age so the breeder did not put her down.  All in all I have 6 German Shepherds.  I have seen Shepherds that are the kind that give that breed a bad name and I have seen owners that just want a dog that bites for protection....bad name also.  I have also seen the "spooks" aka "fear biters"...bad name.

I wish the person doing the rescue all the luck in the world and hope they can continue doing such good work.

All dogs can bite it is just that the bigger breeds cause much more damage.

I have to agree with you about Pit Bulls.  I rescued one myself.  Up to that time I never would have considered the breed because of the reputation.  He was so pathetic I gave him a chance.  I've had him for eleven years now and I have never had a dog so devoted to me, so obedient, and so willing to please.  Because of past abuse he has some issues.  I don't let him into situations he can't handle.  With proper care and supervision a Pit Bull is a wonderful breed.
